Setup

1. Charging the Battery

The Vivitar DVR880HD uses a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery.

  1. Locate the USB port on the device.
  2. Connect the device to a power source (e.g., computer USB port or USB wall adapter) using the provided USB cable.
  3. The charging indicator light will illuminate. Charging typically takes approximately 2 hours for a full charge.
  4. Once fully charged, the indicator light may change color or turn off. Disconnect the device from the power source.

2. Installing an SD Card

The DVR880HD requires an SD or SDXC memory card (not included) to store videos and photos as it has no internal memory.

  1. Locate the SD card slot on the side or bottom of the device.
  2. Insert the SD card into the slot with the metal contacts facing the correct direction (refer to the diagram on the device if available).
  3. Push the card gently until it clicks into place.
  4. To remove, push the card again until it springs out.

3. Powering On/Off

  • To power on, press and hold the Power button until the LCD screen illuminates.
  • To power off, press and hold the Power button again until the screen turns off.

Operating Instructions

1. Recording Video

  1. Ensure the device is powered on and an SD card is inserted.
  2. Press the Mode button to select video recording mode (usually indicated by a camera icon with a red dot).
  3. Frame your shot using the 2-inch LCD screen.
  4. Press the Record button (often marked with a red circle) to start recording. A red indicator light or on-screen icon will show recording is in progress.
  5. To stop recording, press the Record button again.

2. Taking Photos

  1. Ensure the device is powered on and an SD card is inserted.
  2. Press the Mode button to select photo capture mode (usually indicated by a still camera icon).
  3. Frame your shot using the 2-inch LCD screen.
  4. Press the Shutter button (often marked with a camera icon) to take a photo.

3. Using Digital Zoom

The DVR880HD features 4x digital zoom.

  • While in video or photo mode, use the zoom buttons (often marked 'W' for wide and 'T' for telephoto, or '+' and '-') to adjust the zoom level.
  • Note that digital zoom may reduce image quality compared to optical zoom.

4. Connecting to a Computer

To transfer files, connect the DVR880HD to your computer using the supplied USB cable.

  1. Power on the DVR880HD.
  2. Connect one end of the USB cable to the camera's USB port and the other end to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. The camera should appear as a removable disk drive on your computer.
  4. You can then access and transfer your video and photo files.

5. Vivitar Experience Software

The Vivitar Experience Software (if included or available for download) allows for editing and adding special effects to your captured media. Refer to the software's specific instructions for installation and usage.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Device

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the camera.
  • For the LCD screen and lens, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution if necessary, applying gently to avoid scratches.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

2. Battery Care

  • Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
