4. Setup & Installation

4.1 Mounting the Speedometer

  1. Choose a suitable location on your vehicle's dashboard or handlebar that provides clear visibility and does not obstruct your view of the road.
  2. Use the provided mounting bracket kit to securely attach the speedometer. Ensure all screws are tightened appropriately.
  3. Adjust the viewing angle for optimal readability.

4.2 Installing the Speed Sensor

  1. Identify a suitable location for the universal speed sensor, typically near a rotating part of the wheel (e.g., brake disc bolts, wheel spokes).
  2. Mount the sensor securely, ensuring it is within the specified sensing distance of the magnet (not included, or use existing vehicle magnets if compatible).
  3. Route the sensor cable away from moving parts and heat sources, securing it with cable ties.

4.3 Wiring Connections

Refer to the wiring diagram provided with your speedometer for specific connections. General connections typically include:

  • Red Wire: +12V Switched Power (Ignition)
  • Black Wire: Ground (-)
  • Blue Wire: Backlight Power (Optional, connect to +12V when headlights are on)
  • Yellow Wire: Speed Sensor Input

Ensure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent short circuits.

5. Operation

5.1 Power On

Turn the vehicle's ignition key to the "ON" position. The speedometer will power on, and the blue backlight will illuminate (if connected).

5.2 Speed Display

As the vehicle moves, the needle will indicate the current speed in km/h. The digital display may show additional information.

5.3 Odometer (ODO) and Trip Meter (TRIP)

The digital display typically cycles between Odometer (total distance) and Trip Meter (resettable distance). A button on the speedometer (or a separate switch, if applicable) allows you to switch between these modes and reset the trip meter.

  • Switching Modes: Press the button briefly to toggle between ODO and TRIP.
  • Resetting Trip Meter: While in TRIP mode, press and hold the button for a few seconds until the trip value resets to zero.

5.4 Backlight

The speedometer features a blue backlight for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions. This backlight is typically activated when the vehicle's headlights are turned on, assuming it's wired correctly.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the speedometer's surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the display or casing.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all wiring connections for looseness or corrosion. Ensure the speed sensor and its mounting are secure.
  • Storage: If the vehicle is stored for an extended period, ensure the speedometer is protected from extreme temperatures and moisture.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
