5. Setup

5.1 Placement

Position the projector on a stable, flat surface for tabletop use, or securely mount it to the ceiling. Ensure adequate ventilation around the projector to prevent overheating. The projection distance will determine the image size; refer to the specifications for throw ratio details.

5.2 Connecting Devices

  1. Power Connection: Connect the power cable to the projector's power inlet and then to an electrical outlet.
  2. Video Source:
    • HDMI: For digital video and audio, connect an HDMI cable from your source device (e.g., Blu-ray player, laptop) to the projector's HDMI port.
    • VGA: For analog video, connect a VGA cable from your computer to one of the projector's RGB IN ports.
    • S-Video/Composite: For standard definition video sources, use the S-Video or Composite video input ports.
  3. Audio Source: If using VGA or other analog video inputs, connect an audio cable from your source device to the projector's Audio In port. The projector has an integrated speaker.
  4. Control (Optional): For remote control via a computer, connect an RS232 cable to the projector's RS232 port.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off

  • Power On: Press the power button on the projector or the remote control. The power indicator light will turn blue.
  • Power Off: Press the power button twice. The projector will enter a cooling cycle before shutting down completely.

6.2 Image Adjustment

  • Focus: Rotate the focus ring on the projector lens until the image is sharp and clear.
  • Zoom: Adjust the zoom ring on the projector lens to increase or decrease the image size.
  • Keystone Correction: If the image appears trapezoidal, use the keystone correction function (usually via the remote or on-screen menu) to adjust the image geometry vertically.

6.3 Selecting Input Source

Press the 'Source' button on the remote control or projector control panel to cycle through available input sources (HDMI, VGA, S-Video, Composite). The projector also features auto source detection.

6.4 ECO Mode

Activate ECO mode via the projector's menu or remote control to reduce lamp brightness slightly, extend lamp life, and lower power consumption and fan noise. This mode is recommended for environments where maximum brightness is not essential.

6.5 3D Functionality

The PJD5133 is 3D-ready, supporting 120Hz refresh rates via DLP Link Technology. To experience 3D content, you will need DLP Link compatible active shutter glasses (e.g., ViewSonic PGD-250, sold separately) and potentially a 3D video processor (e.g., ViewSonic VP3D1, sold separately) to convert 3D HD formats.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Filter-less Design

The projector features a filter-less design, eliminating the need for regular air filter cleaning or replacement, which simplifies maintenance and reduces total cost of ownership.

7.2 Lamp Life

The projector lamp has an estimated life of 5000 hours in normal mode and up to 6000 hours in ECO mode. To maximize lamp life, use ECO mode whenever possible and ensure proper ventilation.

7.3 Cleaning

  • Exterior: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the projector's casing. For stubborn marks, dampen the cloth slightly with water. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Lens: Gently wipe the lens with a lens cleaning cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical surfaces. Do not use abrasive materials.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your projector, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Image on Screen:
    • Ensure the projector is powered on and the power indicator is blue.
    • Verify that the video cable (HDMI, VGA) is securely connected to both the projector and the source device.
    • Select the correct input source using the 'Source' button on the remote or projector.
    • Check the source device's display settings to ensure it is outputting video.
  • Image is Blurry:
    • Adjust the focus ring on the projector lens.
    • Ensure the projection surface is flat and the projector is stable.
  • Image is Trapezoidal:
    • Use the keystone correction function to adjust the image geometry.
    • Ensure the projector is positioned perpendicular to the screen as much as possible.
  • No Sound:
    • If using HDMI, ensure the source device is sending audio via HDMI.
    • If using VGA, ensure an audio cable is connected from the source to the projector's Audio In port.
    • Check the projector's volume settings and ensure it is not muted.
  • Remote Control Not Working:
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the projector's IR receiver.
