3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Physical Installation
Before installing the motherboard, ensure your computer case is compatible with the ATX form factor. Handle the motherboard by its edges to avoid static discharge.
- Prepare the Case: Install the I/O shield into the rear opening of your computer case.
- Install the CPU: Carefully open the LGA 1155 socket lever, align the CPU with the socket (matching the golden triangle on the CPU to the triangle on the socket), gently place the CPU into the socket, and close the lever to secure it.
- Install the CPU Cooler: Mount the compatible CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions.
- Install Memory Modules: Open the clips of the DDR3 DIMM slots. Align the memory modules with the slots, ensuring the notch on the module matches the key in the slot. Press down firmly on both ends until the clips snap into place. For dual-channel operation, refer to the motherboard manual for recommended slot configurations.
- Mount the Motherboard: Carefully place the motherboard into the case, aligning the screw holes with the stand-offs. Secure the motherboard with screws. Note: The P8H67-V has 6 stand-off mounts. For areas lacking support, such as near the RAM slots and SATA connectors, consider using a non-conductive wedge underneath when plugging in components to prevent flexing.
3.2 Connecting Components
Connect all necessary power cables, data cables, and front panel connectors to the motherboard.
- Power Connectors: Connect the 24-pin ATX main power connector and the 8-pin CPU power connector from your power supply to the motherboard.
- SATA Devices: Connect your storage drives (HDDs, SSDs, optical drives) to the SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3_0, SATA3_1) or SATA 3 Gb/s (SATA2_0 to SATA2_3) ports.
- IDE Devices: If using an older IDE optical drive or HDD, connect it to the UltraDMA 133/100/66 (IDE) port.
- Front Panel Connectors: Connect the power button, reset button, HDD LED, power LED, and front panel USB/audio headers to their respective pins on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard diagram for correct pin assignments.
- Rear Panel Connections: Connect peripherals such as keyboard/mouse (PS/2), USB devices (USB 2.0/3.0), Ethernet cable (RJ-45), and display cables (HDMI, DVI, VGA) to the rear I/O panel.

3.3 Initial Power On
After all components are connected, ensure your power supply is switched on. You can initiate power by pressing the case's power button or by briefly shorting the power pins on the front panel header with a screwdriver (the 'screwdriver method').
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 BIOS/UEFI Configuration
The P8H67-V features a user-friendly UEFI BIOS. To enter the BIOS setup, press the DEL key during system startup. The BIOS can be navigated using either a mouse or keyboard. You can save all CMOS screen settings to a USB flash drive for future reference or backup.
4.2 Driver Installation
After installing your operating system, it is crucial to install the necessary drivers. Always download the latest drivers directly from the official ASUS support website for your specific motherboard model (P8H67-V). Pay particular attention to the chipset, graphics (VGA), audio, and LAN drivers.
Important Note for HDMI Users:
If you plan to use the integrated HDMI output, it is highly recommended to install the specific
