4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking

Carefully unpack your NU3000 amplifier. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. If damage is found, contact your dealer immediately. Retain the original packing materials for future shipping or storage.

4.2 Rack Mounting

The NU3000 is designed for standard 19-inch rack mounting. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit. Do not block the front or rear ventilation openings.

4.3 Connections

Before making any connections, ensure the amplifier is powered off and disconnected from the mains supply.

4.3.1 Input Connections

Connect your audio source (mixer, preamplifier) to the INPUTS on the rear panel using balanced XLR or 1/4-inch TRS cables. The NU3000 features two input channels (CH A and CH B).

4.3.2 Output Connections

Connect your loudspeakers to the OUTPUTS using speakON connectors. Ensure your speakers' impedance matches the amplifier's output capabilities (2 Ohms, 4 Ohms, or 8 Ohms per channel, or 4 Ohms in bridge mode). Refer to the specifications for detailed impedance ratings.

4.3.3 Power Connection

Connect the supplied AC power cord to the POWER inlet on the rear panel and then to a grounded mains outlet. Ensure the voltage matches your local power supply.

5. Operating the NU3000

5.1 Front Panel Controls

Figure 5.1.1: Front panel of the Behringer NU3000 Power Amplifier. This image highlights the individual gain controls for Channel A and Channel B, along with the power button and LED indicators for signal, limit, and protection status.

  • POWER Button: Press to turn the amplifier on or off.
  • CH A / CH B GAIN Controls: Adjust the output level for each channel. Rotate clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
  • SIGNAL LEDs: Indicate the presence of an audio signal.
  • LIMIT LEDs: Illuminate when the output signal is approaching clipping. Reduce the gain if these LEDs are constantly lit.
  • PROTECT LEDs: Indicate that the amplifier's protection circuitry is active due to overheating, short circuits, or other faults.

5.2 Rear Panel Controls and Switches

Refer to Figure 4.3.1 for the location of these controls.

  • MODE Switch: Selects the operating mode:
    • DUAL: Each channel operates independently.
    • PARALLEL: Input A feeds both channels, which operate independently.
    • BRIDGE: Both channels combine to drive a single, higher-power output.
  • CROSSOVER Switch: Activates the built-in subwoofer/satellite crossover.
    • FULLRANGE: Full frequency range output.
    • LF (Low Frequency): Output optimized for subwoofers.
    • HF (High Frequency): Output optimized for satellite speakers.

5.3 Basic Operation

  1. Ensure all connections are secure and correct.
  2. Set the CH A and CH B GAIN controls to their minimum (fully counter-clockwise) position.
  3. Power on your audio source (mixer, etc.).
  4. Press the POWER button on the NU3000 front panel. The POWER LED should illuminate.
  5. Slowly increase the GAIN controls for CH A and CH B to the desired listening level. Monitor the LIMIT LEDs to avoid clipping.
  6. When finished, reduce the GAIN controls to minimum, then power off the amplifier.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Clean the unit regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents. Ensure ventilation grilles are free from dust and debris to maintain proper airflow.

6.2 Storage

If storing the amplifier for an extended period, disconnect it from power, clean it, and store it in a dry, dust-free environment, preferably in its original packaging.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your NU3000 amplifier.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No powerPower cord not connected; outlet faulty; amplifier fuse blown.Check power cord connection; test outlet with another device; contact qualified service personnel for fuse replacement.
