3. Setup

3.1. Fueling the Torch

The MT-770 Micro Torch uses standard butane gas. Ensure you are in a well-ventilated area, away from any ignition sources, when refilling.

  1. Turn the torch upside down.
  2. Insert the nozzle of the butane gas canister vertically into the filling valve at the bottom of the torch.
  3. Press down firmly for approximately 5-10 seconds. You may hear a slight hiss or see a small amount of liquid butane escape, which is normal.
  4. Repeat the process 2-3 times to ensure a full fill.
  5. Wait a few minutes after filling before igniting to allow the gas to stabilize.

3.2. Initial Checks

  • Verify that the flame adjustment knob is set to the lowest setting before ignition.
  • Ensure the safety lock (if present and engaged) is disengaged before attempting to ignite.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Ignition

  1. Ensure the torch is filled with butane and the flame adjustment is at its lowest setting.
  2. If your model has a safety lock, disengage it.
  3. Press the ignition button. You should hear a click and see a flame.
  4. If the torch does not ignite, release the button, wait a few seconds, and try again. Ensure there is sufficient butane.

4.2. Adjusting the Flame

  • The flame size and intensity can be adjusted using the flame adjustment knob, typically located at the base or side of the torch.
  • Turn the knob clockwise to decrease the flame and counter-clockwise to increase it.
  • Always adjust the flame carefully to suit your specific task.

4.3. Continuous Flame Operation (if applicable)

Some models may feature a continuous flame lock. If present:

  • After igniting the torch, push the continuous flame lock switch (if available) to engage it. This will keep the flame on without holding the ignition button.
  • To turn off, disengage the continuous flame lock switch and then release the ignition button.

4.4. Turning Off the Torch

  • Release the ignition button. If the continuous flame lock was engaged, disengage it first.
  • Ensure the flame is completely extinguished.
  • Engage the safety lock (if applicable) to prevent accidental ignition.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

  • Ensure the torch is completely cool before cleaning.
  • Wipe the exterior of the torch with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Keep the nozzle area clear of debris. Use a small brush or compressed air if necessary, ensuring the torch is completely empty of fuel.

5.2. Storage

  • Store the torch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Ensure the torch is turned off and the safety lock is engaged (if applicable) before storage.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
