5. Setup and Installation
The following steps detail the assembly of the plow base and push tube, and its connection to your ATV. For a visual guide, please refer to the installation video below.
This video provides a step-by-step guide for installing a universal snow plow blade, assembling the adjustment turntable, and connecting the push tube.
5.1. Blade Installation
- Attach the skid shoes to the plow blade using the provided hardware. Ensure they are securely fastened.
- Install the hooks onto the plow blade. These hooks will be used for connecting the push tube assembly.
5.2. Adjustment Turntable Installation
- Assemble the turntable mechanism onto the plow base. Secure it with the designated bolts and nuts.
- Install the steering adjustment handle onto the turntable. This handle allows for angle adjustments of the plow blade.
5.3. Push Tube Installation
- Connect the push tube assembly to the plow blade. Align the holes and insert the connecting pins.
- Attach the tension springs between the push tube and the plow blade. These springs help absorb impact and return the blade to its upright position.
5.4. Mounting to ATV Frame
This kit requires a compatible ATV mounting bracket (sold separately or as part of a complete plow system) to attach to your ATV's frame.
- Position the ATV mounting bracket underneath your ATV's frame.
- Secure the mounting bracket to the ATV frame using U-bolts or other specified fasteners. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
- Align the push tube assembly with the ATV mounting bracket.
- Insert the quick-connect pins through the designated holes to attach the push tube to the ATV mounting bracket. Ensure the pins are fully engaged and secured with cotter pins or clips.
6. Operation
Once installed, the plow system is ready for operation. Always ensure your ATV is in good working condition and that you are familiar with its controls.
6.1. Adjustable Blade Angle
The plow blade angle can be adjusted to suit different plowing conditions. Utilize the steering adjustment handle on the turntable to change the blade's angle. This allows you to push snow straight, or angle it to the left or right for efficient clearing.
6.2. Winch Connection (if applicable)
If your ATV is equipped with a winch, connect the winch cable to the designated attachment point on the plow blade. The winch is used to raise and lower the plow blade for transport and plowing operations.
7. Maintenance
- After each use, clean the plow blade and push tube to remove snow, ice, and debris.
- Inspect all bolts, nuts, and pins for tightness. Tighten as necessary.
- Check for any signs of wear or damage on the blade, skid shoes, springs, and push tube. Replace worn or damaged parts immediately.
- Lubricate pivot points and moving parts periodically to ensure smooth operation.
- Store the plow in a dry location when not in use to prevent rust and corrosion.
8. Troubleshooting
- Plow not holding angle: Check the adjustment handle mechanism and ensure it is fully engaged and tightened.
- Excessive vibration or noise: Inspect all mounting points and fasteners for looseness. Ensure the plow is properly seated on the ATV mounting bracket.
- Plow not lifting/lowering properly: If using a winch, check the winch cable, connections, and winch operation. Ensure no debris is obstructing movement.
