3. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the unit from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage.
  2. Placement: Position the spot cooler on a flat, stable surface. Utilize the swivel casters for easy movement. Engage the locking casters once the unit is in its desired location to prevent accidental movement.
  3. Cold Air Discharge: The unit features 5-inch diameter front cold air discharge nozzles. Direct these nozzles towards the area requiring cooling.
  4. Warm Air Exhaust: The unit has 8-inch and 12-inch diameter top warm air discharge ports. It is crucial to exhaust warm air away from the cooled space to maximize efficiency. An optional Warm Air Duct (8'L ducting with a 2’ x 2’ ceiling flange) is available for exhausting warm air into a ceiling plenum or outside.
  5. Condensate Management: The unit includes a condensate tank. For continuous operation or in high humidity environments, an optional condensate pump can be connected directly to the portable air conditioner to automatically remove condensed water.
  6. Power Connection: Plug the unit into a dedicated 115 Volt / Nema 5/15 GFCI electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the unit is properly set up and connected to power, you can begin operation.

  1. Power On: Locate the power button on the control panel and press it to turn on the unit.
  2. Temperature Setting: Use the temperature controls on the panel to set your desired cooling temperature. The unit's compressor is thermostatically protected, ensuring efficient and safe operation within its specified temperature range.
  3. Fan Speed: Adjust the fan speed as needed for optimal airflow and noise level.
  4. Monitoring: Periodically check the condensate tank and ensure proper warm air exhaust. The unit includes high and low pressure warnings for the compressor, which will indicate potential operational issues.
  5. Power Off: To turn off the unit, press the power button again.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your Airrex Spot Cooler.

  • Air Filters: The unit includes removable, washable air filters for easy maintenance. Clean these filters regularly (e.g., monthly, or more frequently in dusty environments) to maintain optimal airflow and cooling efficiency. To clean, remove the filters, wash with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry completely before reinserting.
  • Condensate Tank: Empty the condensate tank as needed. If using the optional condensate pump, ensure it is functioning correctly and the drain line is clear.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Coil Cleaning: Periodically inspect the condenser and evaporator coils for dust and debris. If heavily soiled, professional cleaning may be required.
