Setup

1. Battery Installation

The remote requires four (4) AAA batteries. To install:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote.
  2. Slide the cover off.
  3. Insert four AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover.

2. Programming for Dish Network Receiver

This remote can operate in either IR (Infrared) or UHF (Ultra High Frequency) mode. The mode is typically selected via a switch or tab within the battery compartment or on the remote itself. For model 322 receivers, the remote can function as a primary remote (TV1) or a secondary remote (TV2) using either IR or UHF.

  • IR Mode: Line-of-sight is required between the remote and the receiver.
  • UHF Mode: Allows control without direct line-of-sight, useful for controlling receivers in another room or cabinet. The remote ships with a small UHF key for TV1.

Refer to your Dish Network receiver's manual for specific pairing instructions, as procedures may vary slightly by receiver model. Generally, this involves accessing a menu on your receiver to pair the remote.

3. Programming for Additional Devices (TV, DVD, VCR, Sound System)

The remote can be programmed to control up to four devices. To program for other devices:

  1. Turn on the device you wish to program (e.g., TV, DVD player).
  2. Press and hold the desired device button (e.g., TV, DVD) on the remote until all device buttons light up, then release. The selected device button should remain lit.
  3. Enter the 3-digit programming code for your device's brand. A list of common codes is usually provided with the remote or can be found on the Dish Network support website.
  4. Point the remote at the device and press the POWER button. If the device turns off, the code is correct.
  5. If the device does not turn off, repeat steps 2-4 with the next code for your brand.
  6. Once programmed, press the selected device button again to save the setting.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the remote's response becomes sluggish or the indicator light fails to illuminate. Always replace all four AAA batteries simultaneously with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.

Cleaning

To clean the remote, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the remote's electronics or finish.

Troubleshooting

  • Remote not responding:
    • Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the receiver/device if using IR mode.
    • Verify the remote is set to the correct device mode (e.g., SAT for the receiver, TV for the television).
  • Specific buttons not working:
    • This may indicate a worn-out button or internal issue. Try replacing batteries first.
    • If the remote is programmed for multiple devices, ensure the correct device button is selected for the function you are attempting.
  • Programming issues for other devices:
    • Double-check the programming codes for your device brand.
    • Ensure the device is on and the remote is pointed directly at it during programming.
    • Some older or newer devices may not be compatible with the remote's pre-programmed codes.
  • UHF mode not working:
    • Ensure the remote's UHF switch/tab is correctly set.
