Squire Locks CTL30 Tough Lock Series Recordable Combination Padlock

Model: CTL30

Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Squire Locks CTL30 Tough Lock Series Recordable Combination Padlock. This heavy-duty padlock features a die-cast body and solid steel shackle, designed for reliable security. Please read these instructions carefully before first use.

Setup: Setting Your Combination

Your Squire CTL30 padlock is designed with a recodeable combination feature, allowing you to set a personal code. The factory default combination is typically 0-0-0.

  1. Ensure the padlock is open. If it is currently locked, dial the current combination (factory default is 0-0-0) and pull up the shackle.
  2. Rotate the shackle 90 degrees (a quarter turn) from its open position.
  3. Press the shackle down firmly into the lock body.
  4. While holding the shackle down, set your desired new 3-digit combination by rotating the wheels. Choose a memorable combination.
  5. Release the shackle and return it to its normal open position.
  6. Scramble the combination wheels to lock the padlock. Your new combination is now set.

Important: Test your new combination immediately to ensure it works correctly before locking the padlock. Do not forget your combination, as there is no master key or override code.

Operating the Padlock

Opening the Lock

  1. Align the combination wheels to your set 3-digit code.
  2. Pull the shackle upwards to release it from the lock body.

Closing the Lock

  1. Insert the shackle fully into the lock body.
  2. Scramble the combination wheels to a random set of numbers. This secures the padlock.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your padlock.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the lock body and shackle with a clean, dry cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Lubrication: If the combination wheels become stiff or difficult to turn, apply a small amount of graphite powder or a silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dirt.
  • Storage: Store the padlock in a dry environment when not in use to prevent corrosion, especially if exposed to harsh weather conditions.

Troubleshooting

  • Combination Wheels are Stiff: Apply a small amount of graphite powder or silicone lubricant to the wheels and rotate them several times to distribute the lubricant.
  • Shackle Not Releasing: Ensure the combination is precisely aligned. Sometimes, slight adjustments to the wheels are needed. If the lock has been exposed to extreme weather, check for ice or debris.
  • Forgotten Combination: Unfortunately, if you forget your combination, there is no way to reset it without knowing the current code. The lock will need to be replaced. It is recommended to store your combination in a secure, memorable location.
