4. Setup

4.1 Mounting the Q10B

The Q10B is designed for universal mounting to various seating types, including theater chairs, recliners, sofas, or gaming chairs. A mounting bracket and hardware are included for direct attachment.

General Mounting Guidelines:

  • Identify a strong, stable joist or brace within the furniture structure for secure attachment.
  • Use the provided mounting bracket and hardware to firmly secure the Q10B.
  • Ensure the transducer is mounted in a location that maximizes vibration transfer to the user without causing structural damage to the furniture.

4.2 Electrical Connections

The Q10B Tactile Transducer requires connection to an amplifier capable of delivering 40-1000 Watts of power into an 8-Ohm load. Connect the transducer to the low-frequency output (e.g., subwoofer output) of your audio system or amplifier using appropriate speaker wire.

Connection Steps:

  1. Ensure your amplifier is powered off before making any connections.
  2. Connect the positive (+) terminal of the Q10B to the positive (+) terminal of the amplifier's low-frequency output.
  3. Connect the negative (-) terminal of the Q10B to the negative (-) terminal of the amplifier's low-frequency output.
  4. Verify all connections are secure to prevent short circuits or signal loss.

5. Operating the Q10B

Once properly installed and connected, the Q10B will convert low-frequency audio signals into physical vibrations. This allows you to feel the bass and effects from your audio content, enhancing immersion without necessarily increasing audible volume.

  • Audio Source: The Q10B responds to low-frequency audio from movies, music, and games.
  • Adjusting Intensity: The intensity of the tactile feedback is controlled by the volume level of the low-frequency output from your amplifier. Start with a low setting and gradually increase it to your preferred level.
  • Optimized Experience: The Q10B is particularly effective for AR/VR systems, gaming simulations, and cinematic special effects, providing a realistic physical response to on-screen or in-game events.

6. Maintenance

The Q10B Tactile Transducer features a maintenance-free design with a rugged aluminum alloy construction for thermal stability. It contains only one moving part and integrated thermal protection circuitry.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the mounting hardware and electrical connections to ensure they remain secure.
  • Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your Q10B Tactile Transducer, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Vibration:
    • Check all electrical connections between the transducer and the amplifier. Ensure they are secure and correctly polarized (+ to + and - to -).
    • Verify that the amplifier is powered on and receiving an audio signal.
    • Confirm that the amplifier's volume for the low-frequency output is turned up.
    • Ensure the audio source contains sufficient low-frequency content.
  • Weak Vibration:
    • Increase the volume level of the low-frequency output from your amplifier.
    • Check the mounting. A loose mount or an unsuitable mounting surface can reduce vibration transfer. Ensure the transducer is firmly attached to a solid part of the furniture.
  • Distorted Vibration:
    • Reduce the amplifier's volume. Overdriving the transducer can cause distortion.
    • Ensure the amplifier's output impedance matches the transducer's 8-Ohm impedance.

If the problem persists after attempting these steps, please contact customer support.
