Setup Guide
1. Speaker Placement
Optimal speaker placement is crucial for the best audio experience. Position the speakers as follows:
- Center Speaker: Place directly above or below your TV.
- Front Satellite Speakers: Position to the left and right of your TV, equidistant from the listening position.
- Surround Satellite Speakers: Place to the sides or slightly behind the main listening position.
- Subwoofer: Can be placed anywhere in the front of the room, typically near the TV or a front speaker. Experiment with placement for optimal bass response.
2. Connecting Speakers to the AV Receiver (TX-SR 508)
Use appropriate speaker cables to connect each speaker to the corresponding terminals on the rear of the TX-SR 508 AV Receiver. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for all connections.
- Connect the center speaker to the "CENTER" terminals.
- Connect the front left and right speakers to the "FRONT L" and "FRONT R" terminals.
- Connect the surround left and right speakers to the "SURROUND L" and "SURROUND R" terminals.
- Connect the subwoofer to the "SUBWOOFER PRE OUT" using an RCA cable. The subwoofer also requires its own power connection.
3. Connecting Source Devices
Connect your Blu-ray Disc Player (BD-SP308) and other devices to the AV Receiver.
- Blu-ray Player (BD-SP308): Connect an HDMI cable from the BD-SP308's HDMI OUT to an HDMI IN port on the TX-SR 508 AV Receiver.
- Television: Connect an HDMI cable from the TX-SR 508's HDMI OUT to an HDMI IN port on your television.
- Other Devices: Use available HDMI, optical, coaxial, or analog audio/video inputs on the TX-SR 508 for additional components like game consoles or media players. The front panel includes an AUX INPUT for video and L-AUDIO-R, and a USB port.
4. Power Connection
Once all audio/video connections are made, connect the power cords for the AV Receiver, Blu-ray Player, and powered subwoofer to appropriate wall outlets.
5. Initial Setup and Calibration
After powering on the system, use the included setup microphone (visible in the image, connected to the front panel) and follow the on-screen instructions (if available via HDMI to your TV) to perform automatic speaker calibration. This optimizes sound settings for your room.
Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
Press the POWER button on the front panel of the AV Receiver or the remote control to turn the system on or off.
Input Selection
Use the INPUT SELECTOR buttons on the front panel or the remote control to choose the desired source (e.g., "BD/DVD" for the Blu-ray player, "GAME", "TUNER", "TV/CD", "PC", "PORT").
Volume Control
Adjust the master volume using the large MASTER VOLUME knob on the AV Receiver or the volume buttons on the remote control.
Blu-ray Disc Player Operation (BD-SP308)
Insert a Blu-ray disc or DVD into the disc tray. The player will typically begin playback automatically. Use the remote control for playback functions such as Play, Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, and Rewind.
Sound Modes
The AV Receiver offers various sound modes (e.g., DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD, Stereo). Use the LISTENING MODE buttons on the remote control to cycle through available options and select the one best suited for your content.
Using the Remote Control

Maintenance
