1. Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the controller from its packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage. Ensure all components are present as listed in the packing contents.
2. Battery Installation
The DDCWP-4-9V controller requires two 9V batteries (not included) for operation. Locate the battery compartment, typically on the back or side of the unit. Insert the batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-). Secure the battery compartment cover.
3. Mounting the Controller
Choose a suitable location for mounting the controller. It is designed to be waterproof and can be installed outdoors. Use appropriate screws or mounting hardware to secure the controller to a wall or post. Ensure it is easily accessible for programming and maintenance.

4. Wiring to Solenoids
Connect the controller's wires to your irrigation system's DC latching solenoids. This controller requires 9-12 VDC DC latching solenoids; it is not compatible with 24 VAC solenoids. Each station wire from the controller corresponds to a specific solenoid. Ensure all connections are secure and waterproof.
Operating Instructions
1. Initial Power-Up and Reset
Upon battery installation, the display should activate. If the display remains blank or the unit is unresponsive, locate the reset button (often a small pinhole) and press it using a paperclip or similar pointed object. This will reset the controller.

4. Manual Operation
To manually operate a station or program:
- Turn the dial to "MANUAL PROGRAMS" or "MANUAL STATION".
- Select the desired program or station using the arrow buttons.
- Press the "ON" button to start watering.
- Press the "OFF" button to stop watering manually.
5. Seasonal Adjust
The "SEASON ADJUST" feature allows you to globally increase or decrease watering durations for all programs by a percentage, adapting to seasonal changes without reprogramming each station.
6. Turning Off the Controller
To temporarily disable all watering, turn the dial to the "OFF" position.
Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries annually or when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Use fresh 9V alkaline batteries.
- Cleaning: Wipe the controller's exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Winterization: In freezing climates, remove the controller and batteries for storage indoors during winter months to prevent damage.
