Setup Instructions

1. Unpacking

  1. Carefully remove the coffee machine and all its components from the packaging.
  2. Check for any visible damage. If damaged, do not use the appliance and contact customer support.
  3. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.

2. Placement

  • Place the coffee machine on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface.
  • Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the appliance.
  • Keep the appliance away from walls, curtains, and other flammable materials.
  • Ensure the power cord can reach a suitable electrical outlet without being stretched or obstructed.

3. Initial Cleaning

Before first use, clean all removable parts and the interior of the machine.

  1. Remove the lid, filter basket, and percolator tube.
  2. Wash these parts with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
  3. Wipe the interior of the water tank with a damp cloth.
  4. Perform a "dummy" brew cycle with only water to flush out any manufacturing residues.

Operating Instructions

1. Filling with Water

  1. Ensure the appliance is unplugged.
  2. Remove the lid.
  3. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water up to the desired level, indicated by the water level gauge on the side. Do not exceed the maximum fill line (10 liters).
  4. Replace the lid securely.

2. Adding Coffee Grounds

  1. Place the percolator tube and filter basket inside the machine.
  2. Add coarsely ground coffee directly into the fine-mesh filter basket. No paper filter is required.
  3. The recommended coffee-to-water ratio is approximately 50-60 grams of coffee per liter of water, but adjust to taste.
  4. Ensure the lid is properly closed after adding coffee.

3. Brewing Process

  1. Plug the appliance into a suitable 230V electrical outlet.
  2. The brewing process will start automatically. The brewing time is approximately 60 minutes for a full 10-liter capacity.
  3. During brewing, water is heated and pumped up through the percolator tube, showering over the coffee grounds in the filter basket.
  4. Once brewing is complete, the machine will automatically switch to the keep-warm function.

4. Serving Coffee

  • Place a cup or mug under the safety tap.
  • Press the tap lever to dispense coffee. Release the lever to stop the flow.
  • Exercise caution as the coffee and machine surfaces will be hot.

5. Keep Warm Function

The Saro 317-1010 features a separate heating system for its keep-warm function, ensuring your coffee remains at an optimal serving temperature after brewing without over-extracting or burning.

Maintenance and Cleaning

1. Daily Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Remove the lid, filter basket, and percolator tube. Discard used coffee grounds.
  3. Wash these removable parts with warm, soapy water. Use a soft brush for the filter basket if necessary. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
  5. Clean the water level gauge tube with a small brush to prevent residue buildup.
  6. Dry all parts completely before reassembling or storing.

2. Descaling

Regular descaling is essential to maintain performance and extend the lifespan of your coffee machine, especially in areas with hard water. Descale every 1-3 months depending on usage.

  1. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions (e.g., citric acid solution or commercial descaler).
  2. Pour the descaling solution into the water tank.
  3. Run a brewing cycle with the descaling solution (without coffee grounds).
  4. After the cycle, discard the solution and rinse the machine thoroughly by running 2-3 cycles with fresh water.

3. Storage

If storing the appliance for an extended period, ensure it is clean and dry. Store it in a cool, dry place, preferably in its original packaging.
