1. Introduction

The TC-Helicon VOICETONE E1 is a compact, single-button stompbox designed to add a range of vocal echo effects, from vintage slapback to modern delays. This manual provides essential information for proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your device.

2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the VOICETONE E1 from its packaging. Ensure all components are present: the VOICETONE E1 unit and the power supply. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit.

2.2 Power Connection

  1. Connect the included 12V DC power adapter to the 'POWER' input on the rear of the VOICETONE E1.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet. The 'POWER' LED on the front panel will illuminate when the unit receives power.

2.3 Audio Connections

The VOICETONE E1 connects between your microphone and your mixer or audio interface.

  1. Connect your microphone to the 'MIC' input (XLR) on the rear of the VOICETONE E1 using a standard XLR cable.
  2. Connect the 'OUT' output (XLR) on the rear of the VOICETONE E1 to an available input on your mixer or audio interface using another XLR cable.
  3. Ensure phantom power is supplied by your mixer/interface if you are using a condenser microphone. The VOICETONE E1 passes phantom power through to the microphone.

3. Operating the VOICETONE E1

3.1 Controls Overview

The VOICETONE E1 features intuitive controls for shaping your vocal echo effects.

3.2 Basic Operation

  1. Turn On: Ensure all connections are secure and power is supplied. The unit is ready when the power LED is lit.
  2. Engage Effect: Press the footswitch to activate the echo effect. The effect LED will illuminate. Press again to bypass the effect.
  3. Select Echo Type: Rotate the FX knob to explore different echo styles. Start with subtle settings and adjust to taste.
  4. Adjust Repeats: Use the Feedback knob to control how many times the echo repeats.
  5. Mix Level: Adjust the Dry/Wet knob to blend the echo effect with your dry vocal.
  6. Analog Mode: Press the Analog button to toggle between digital and analog-style echo.

3.3 Tap Tempo

The VOICETONE E1 features a tap tempo function to synchronize your echo repeats with the tempo of your music.

3.4 Mic-Control Feature

The VOICETONE E1 supports TC-Helicon's Mic-Control feature, allowing remote on/off switching of the effect using a compatible TC-Helicon MP-75 microphone.
