Installation and Setup

The Truman Cell is a critical component of your Oreck XL Professional Tabletop Air Purifier. Proper installation ensures effective air purification.

Compatibility Check

Ensure this replacement collector cell (Model 09-21058-01) is compatible with your specific Oreck XL Professional Tabletop Air Purifier model (AIRPB or AIRPS). This cell is a deep cell and may not fit all XL Professional models. Verify your unit's requirements before installation.

Installation Steps

  1. Power Off: Before handling the collector cell, always ensure your air purifier is turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.
  2. Remove Old Cell: Carefully open your air purifier according to its user guide and remove the existing collector cell.
  3. Insert New Cell: Gently slide the new Oreck Truman Cell-AIRP Series Replacement Collector Cell into the designated slot within the air purifier. Ensure it is seated correctly and securely.
  4. Close Unit: Close the air purifier's cover securely.
  5. Power On: Plug the air purifier back into the power outlet and turn it on.

Important Safety Cautions:

  • Installing a wet or even damp collector cell into the air purifier may cause melting of internal components during use.
  • DO NOT place a wet or damp collector cell in the air purifier.
  • DO NOT wash the odor absorber. Replace, if necessary.
  • Dry the collector cell thoroughly outside of the air purifier before reinstalling it into the air purifier. Ensure that all areas including corners and areas that may trap water are dry before reinstalling into the air purifier.
  • High voltage from the collector cell may cause ignition of flammable or explosive gases/particles in the circulating air.
  • DO NOT use in an area that contains flammable or explosive gases/particles in the circulating air.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning of the Truman Cell is essential for maintaining the efficiency and longevity of your Oreck air purifier.

When to Clean

  • The red 'Check Collector Cell' light on your air purifier will illuminate.
  • Oreck recommends cleaning the collector cell every two to four weeks.
  • If frequent snapping sounds occur (caused by large particles entering the cell).

Cleaning Instructions

  1. Power Off and Unplug: Always turn off and unplug the air purifier before cleaning.
  2. Remove Cell: Carefully remove the collector cell from the air purifier.
  3. Clean: Follow the cleaning instructions provided in your main Oreck air purifier user guide. Oreck Proprietary Cell Technology uses innovative pre-charge wires. To avoid breaking wires, do not insert objects into the collector cell for cleaning.
  4. Dry Thoroughly: Ensure the collector cell is completely dry before reinstallation. This includes all corners and areas that may trap water. Reinstalling a damp cell can damage the air purifier.
  5. Reinstall: Once completely dry, reinstall the collector cell as described in the Installation section.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your air purifier after installing the replacement cell, consider the following:

  • 'Check Collector Cell' Light Remains On: If the light persists after cleaning and reinstalling the cell, ensure the cell is completely dry and properly seated. If the issue continues, the problem may lie with the main air purifier unit rather than the cell itself.
  • Frequent Snapping Sounds: This indicates large particles are entering the cell. Clean the cell more frequently. If sounds persist after cleaning, ensure the cell is free of debris and properly installed.
  • Reduced Air Purification: Ensure the cell is clean and dry. If performance is still low, consult your air purifier's main user guide for further troubleshooting steps.
