Introduction

The Seagate GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless storage device allows you to carry your entire media library and wirelessly stream movies, photos, music, and documents to your iPad, tablet, or smartphone. With 500GB of storage capacity, it provides ample space for over 300 HD movies, ensuring you never run out of entertainment on the go. It features a fast USB 3.0/USB 2.0 connection for easy media transfer from your PC or Mac computer and offers up to 7 hours of continuous video streaming on a single charge.

This device is designed for convenience, enabling up to three different HD movies to be streamed simultaneously to three different devices. It supports streaming to almost any Wi-Fi enabled device with a web browser, including laptops, Android phones and tablets, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Up to 8 users can connect to the GoFlex Satellite to access various media types.

Upon unboxing your Seagate GoFlex Satellite, you should find the following items:

Setup

  1. Charge the Device: Before initial use, fully charge your GoFlex Satellite. Connect the compact wall adapter or car charger to the device using the USB to DC cable. The device can provide up to 7 hours of continuous play on a full charge.
  2. Transfer Media:
    • Connect the GoFlex Satellite to your PC or Mac computer using the USB 3.0 USM adapter and detachable USB 3.0 cable.
    • Install the downloadable Media Sync software (if prompted or available from Seagate's website) to facilitate media and document transfers.
    • Drag and drop your desired movies, photos, music, and documents onto the GoFlex Satellite drive. The USB 3.0 connection ensures fast data transfers, and it is fully compatible with USB 2.0.
  3. Power On: Once charged and loaded with media, disconnect the device from your computer and charger. Press and hold the power button on the GoFlex Satellite to turn it on.

Operating Instructions

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi:
    • On your Wi-Fi enabled device (iPad, tablet, smartphone, laptop), go to your Wi-Fi settings.
    • Select the Wi-Fi network broadcasted by your GoFlex Satellite (e.g., "GoFlex Satellite_XXXX").
    • Enter the network password if prompted (refer to the quick start guide for default password).
  2. Access Media:
    • Using the Seagate GoFlex Media App: Download and install the free Seagate GoFlex Media app from your device's app store. Open the app to browse and stream your media.
    • Using a Web Browser: Open a web browser on your device and navigate to the GoFlex Satellite's web interface (typically by entering a specific IP address or hostname, refer to the quick start guide). From there, you can browse and stream your content.
  3. Simultaneous Streaming: The GoFlex Satellite supports streaming to up to 3 devices simultaneously for HD content, and up to 8 devices for other media types.
  4. Internet Pass-through: The device can also connect to a nearby Wi-Fi hotspot, allowing your connected devices to access the internet while still streaming from the GoFlex Satellite.
