6. Setup and Installation
6.1 Mounting
The EMX DTM-9-12V timer is designed for DIN rail mounting. Securely attach the unit to a standard DIN rail within an appropriate enclosure, ensuring adequate ventilation and protection from environmental elements.
6.2 Wiring
WARNING: All wiring should be performed by a qualified electrician and in accordance with local electrical codes. Ensure power is disconnected before beginning any wiring procedures.
The timer features 5 screw terminals for connections. Refer to the wiring diagram provided on the unit itself or in the full product documentation for specific connection points for power input (12VDC/AC, 24VDC/AC, or 120VAC) and relay outputs (Normally Open, Normally Closed, Common) to your load device (e.g., gate opener, lock, light).
- Power Input: Connect the appropriate voltage supply to the designated power terminals.
- Load Connection: Connect your device to be controlled to the relay output terminals. The timer provides a Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) relay, allowing for both Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) configurations.
7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Setting Current Time and Day
- Press the 'P' button (Program) to enter time setting mode.
- Use the 'D+' button to set the current day of the week.
- Use the 'H+' button to set the current hour.
- Use the 'M+' button to set the current minute.
- Press the 'P' button again to exit time setting mode and save.
7.2 Programming ON/OFF Events
The timer supports up to 16 ON/OFF program events. Each event can be set for specific days or combinations of days.
- Press the 'P' button repeatedly until '1 ON' appears on the display. This is the first ON event.
- Use 'D+' to select the day(s) for this event (e.g., MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA, SU, or various combinations like MO-FR, SA-SU, etc.). There are 15 daily program options.
- Use 'H+' and 'M+' to set the desired ON time.
- Press 'P' again to advance to '1 OFF'. Set the day(s) and time for the first OFF event using 'D+', 'H+', and 'M+'.
- Repeat steps 1-4 for up to 16 ON/OFF events. If fewer than 16 events are needed, press 'P' until the display returns to the current time.
7.3 Manual Override
Press the 'MANUAL' button to cycle through different operating modes: ON, OFF, and AUTO. In AUTO mode, the timer operates according to the programmed schedule. Manual ON/OFF will override the program until the next scheduled event.
7.4 Resetting the Timer
To clear all settings and return the timer to factory defaults, use a pointed object (like a pen tip) to press the 'RESET' button. This will erase all programmed events and reset the current time.
8. Maintenance
The EMX DTM-9-12V timer requires minimal maintenance. Keep the unit clean and free from dust and moisture. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prolong the device's lifespan.
9. Troubleshooting
- Timer display is blank: Check power connections. Ensure the power supply is within the specified voltage range.
- Programmed events are not executing:
- Verify the current time and day are set correctly.
- Ensure the timer is in 'AUTO' mode (check the 'MANUAL' button setting).
- Review programmed ON/OFF times and days for accuracy.
- Check wiring to the load device.
- Load device not turning ON/OFF: Confirm the load device is functioning correctly when directly powered. Check the relay connections.
- Timer loses settings after power outage: The battery backup should retain settings for 90 days. If settings are lost, the internal battery may need replacement (contact support) or the power outage exceeded the backup duration.
