Carbon monoxide (CO) is a highly toxic gas that can be fatal. It is impossible to see, smell, or taste. The symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are similar to the flu, but without fever. They include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. If you suspect CO poisoning, immediately move to fresh air and seek medical attention.

4. Setup and Installation
Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit.
- Slide open the battery door.
- Insert three (3) AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).

Mounting Options

5. Operation
Normal Operation
Once batteries are installed, the green LED will flash approximately once every 30 seconds, indicating that the alarm is operating correctly and monitoring for carbon monoxide.

CO Alarm Condition
If carbon monoxide is detected at dangerous levels, the alarm will sound an 85-decibel alarm pattern (4 quick beeps, pause, 4 quick beeps) and the red LED will flash. The digital display will show the detected CO concentration in PPM.
Test/Reset Button
Pressing the Test/Reset button will:
- Test the alarm's electronic circuitry and horn.
- Silence the alarm during a CO event (for a limited time).
- Silence the low battery chirp for approximately 24 hours.
Peak Level Memory
To view the peak CO level recorded by the alarm, press the 'Peak Level' button. The highest CO concentration detected since the last reset will be displayed. This feature is useful for understanding past CO exposures.
Low Battery Indicator
When the batteries are low, the alarm will chirp approximately once every 60 seconds, and the digital display may show 'LB' (Low Battery). Replace the batteries immediately.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures your CO alarm functions optimally.
- Weekly Testing: Press the Test/Reset button once a week to ensure the alarm is functioning correctly. The alarm should sound.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries annually or when the low battery indicator sounds. Use only recommended AA alkaline batteries.

- End of Unit Life: The alarm has a 7-year lifespan. After 7 years from the date of manufacture (or power-up if unknown), the unit will signal its end-of-life by chirping five times every minute and displaying 'End'. Replace the unit immediately.
