Introduction
This user manual provides comprehensive instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Behringer Europower EPQ304 Power Amplifier. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the device to ensure proper use and to maximize its performance and longevity.
The EPQ304 is a 4-channel power amplifier designed for professional audio applications, featuring Accelerated Transient Response (ATR) technology and built-in limiters. It delivers 75 Watts peak per channel into 4 Ohms and is housed in a compact 1U rackmount chassis.
Unpacking and Initial Inspection
Upon receiving your EPQ304, carefully unpack the unit and inspect it for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. If you notice any damage, contact your dealer immediately.
The package should contain:
- One Behringer Europower EPQ304 Power Amplifier with ATR
- Power Cable
- This User Manual

Setup
1. Rack Mounting
The EPQ304 is designed for standard 19-inch rack mounting and occupies 1U of rack space. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit, especially if mounting other heat-generating equipment nearby. Do not block the ventilation grilles on the front and sides of the amplifier.

2. Connections
Ensure the amplifier is powered off before making any connections. The EPQ304 features XLR, 6.35mm jack, and RCA input connectors, and Speakon-compatible output connectors.
- Input Connections: Connect your audio source (mixer, preamplifier, etc.) to the input jacks on the rear panel. The amplifier supports balanced XLR, unbalanced 1/4" TRS, and RCA inputs.
- Output Connections: Connect your loudspeakers to the Speakon-compatible output connectors. Ensure correct polarity and impedance matching. The EPQ304 is optimized for 4-Ohm and 8-Ohm loads.
- Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cable to the AC inlet on the rear panel and then to a suitable power outlet.

Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
Press the illuminated power button on the front panel to turn the amplifier on or off. It is recommended to turn on your amplifier after all other audio equipment and turn it off before other equipment to prevent pops or thumps through your speakers.

2. Level Controls and Indicators
Each of the four channels has an independent level control knob and LED indicators for signal presence, clip, and limit. Adjust the level controls to achieve the desired output volume. The clip indicator illuminates when the signal is too high and causing distortion. The limit indicator shows when the built-in limiter is active, protecting your speakers from excessive peaks.

3. Accelerated Transient Response (ATR) Technology
The EPQ304 incorporates Behringer's ATR technology, designed to provide rapid response to transient signals, resulting in crisp and clear audio reproduction, especially for percussive sounds and dynamic passages.
Maintenance
The Behringer EPQ304 requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure its longevity:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the amplifier. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Regularly check that the ventilation grilles are free from dust and debris. Blocked vents can lead to overheating and potential damage.
- Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, ensure it is in a dry, dust-free environment.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power | Power cable disconnected; Power outlet faulty; Internal fuse blown | Check power cable connection; Test power outlet; Contact qualified service personnel for fuse replacement. |
| No sound output | Input cables disconnected/faulty; Output cables disconnected/faulty; Level controls set too low; Source device not sending signal | Verify all cable connections; Increase level controls; Check audio source. |
| Distorted sound / Clip LED constantly on | Input signal too high; Amplifier overloaded; Speaker impedance mismatch | Reduce input signal level from source; Ensure speakers are within recommended impedance range (4-8 Ohms). |
| Amplifier overheats / Shuts down | Insufficient ventilation; Excessive load; Prolonged high-level operation | Ensure clear airflow around the unit; Reduce volume or load; Allow unit to cool down. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact Behringer customer support or a qualified service technician.
