Setup

Battery Installation

For optimal performance, use high-quality alkaline batteries. Lithium batteries are recommended for outdoor sensors in environments where temperatures can drop below -4F (-20C).

  1. Wireless Outdoor Sensor: Remove the battery compartment cover. Insert 2 x AA batteries, observing the polarity (+/-) diagram. Replace the cover.
  2. Digital Display Unit: Remove the battery compartment cover. Insert 2 x AA batteries, observing the polarity (+/-) diagram. Replace the cover.
  3. Allow both units to power on and establish a connection. This may take a few minutes.

Sensor Placement

Proper placement of the wireless sensor is crucial for accurate temperature readings and optimal signal transmission.

  • Place the sensor in a location that is out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources (e.g., exhaust vents, windows).
  • Mount the sensor securely using the integrated hang hole or a string.
  • Ensure the sensor is within 100 feet (30 meters) of the digital display unit. Walls and other obstructions can reduce signal range.
  • Avoid placing the sensor near large metal objects or heavy electrical appliances that could interfere with the wireless signal.

Operating

Understanding the Display

The digital display unit provides a comprehensive overview of current weather conditions and forecasts.

  • Outdoor Temperature: Displays the current temperature reported by the wireless outdoor sensor.
  • Indoor Temperature: Displays the current temperature at the location of the digital display unit.
  • Future Forecast: Utilizes patented self-calibrating forecasting technology to provide a personalized 12 to 24-hour weather forecast based on changes in atmospheric pressure.
  • Intelli-Time Clock & Calendar: Automatically sets itself to the correct time and date upon battery installation and adjusts for Daylight Saving Time.
  • Moon Phase: Displays the current phase of the moon.
  • Pressure History: Shows a barometric pressure trend indicator.

Intelli-Time Clock

The Intelli-Time clock is pre-programmed with the correct time and date. It automatically updates for Daylight Saving Time. Simply install the batteries, and the clock will set itself. No manual adjustment is typically required.

Self-Calibrating Forecasting

The weather forecaster uses a unique self-calibrating algorithm that analyzes changes in pressure over a period of 14 days to determine your altitude and provide the most accurate forecast for your specific location. This learning mode ensures the forecast becomes more precise over time.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the display unit and sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals that could damage the plastic components.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both the display unit and the outdoor sensor approximately every 12-24 months, or when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always replace all batteries at the same time.
  • Sensor Protection: While the outdoor sensor is weather-resistant, avoid submerging it in water or exposing it to extreme conditions beyond its specified operating range.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Solution
No outdoor temperature reading / dashes on display
  • Ensure batteries are correctly installed in both units.
  • Check that both units are within range (100 feet / 30 meters).
  • Relocate the outdoor sensor or display unit to reduce interference from electronics or large metal objects.
  • Perform a hard reset: Remove batteries from both units, wait 1 minute, then reinsert batteries into the outdoor sensor first, followed by the display unit.
Inaccurate temperature reading
  • Ensure the outdoor sensor is not in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
  • Verify the display unit is not near heat sources or vents.
Forecast is inaccurate
  • Allow up to 14 days for the self-calibrating forecasting to complete its learning mode.
  • Ensure the outdoor sensor is placed correctly and transmitting data reliably.
