Important Safety Information

WARNING: This bow set is not a toy. Children under 16 years of age require adult supervision during assembly and use. Ages may vary for this bow in accordance with the child's size and shooting ability. Always wear appropriate protective gear, including an armguard and eye protection, when using the bow. Ensure your shooting area is clear of people and obstacles. Never dry-fire the bow (drawing and releasing the string without an arrow), as this can cause damage to the bow and injury to the user.

Setup Instructions

1. Attaching the Whisker Biscuit Arrow Rest®

  1. Locate the threaded hole on the riser of the bow, typically above the grip.
  2. Align the Whisker Biscuit Arrow Rest® with this hole.
  3. Carefully screw the arrow rest into the riser until it is snug. Do not overtighten. Ensure the bristles of the Whisker Biscuit are facing towards the bowstring.

2. Installing the 1-Pin Composite Sight

  1. Find the sight mounting holes on the side of the bow's riser.
  2. Attach the 1-Pin Composite Sight using the provided screws.
  3. Adjust the sight vertically to align with your initial shooting distance. Fine-tuning will be done during practice.

3. Assembling the Two-Piece Arrow Quiver

  1. The quiver typically attaches to the bow's riser using two mounting points.
  2. Secure the top and bottom sections of the quiver to the designated holes on the bow.
  3. Ensure the quiver is securely fastened and does not interfere with the bowstring or arrow flight.

4. Wearing the Armguard

The armguard should be worn on the forearm of your bow hand (the arm holding the bow). This protects your forearm from being struck by the bowstring upon release. Adjust the straps for a comfortable, secure fit without restricting circulation.

Operating Instructions

1. Understanding Draw Length and Draw Weight

The Brave 3 bow features an adjustable draw length of 15 to 20 inches and a draw weight of 15 to 20 pounds. These settings are designed for young archers and can be adjusted to match the user's physical capabilities. Consult a qualified archery technician for assistance with draw length and weight adjustments to ensure proper fit and safe operation.

2. Proper Shooting Form

  • Stance: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, perpendicular to the target.
  • Grip: Hold the bow lightly with your bow hand, allowing the bow to pivot slightly in your hand upon release.
  • Nocking the Arrow: Place the arrow on the arrow rest and snap the nock onto the bowstring, ensuring the odd-colored fletching points away from the bow.
  • Drawing: Use your back muscles to smoothly draw the bowstring back to your anchor point (a consistent spot on your face).
  • Aiming: Use the 1-pin sight to align with your target.
  • Release: Relax your fingers to smoothly release the bowstring. Follow through with your shot.

Consistent practice with proper form is key to accuracy and safety. Seek guidance from an experienced archer or certified instructor.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the life and performance of your Brave 3 Bow Set.

  • Bowstring Care: Periodically inspect the bowstring for fraying or wear. Apply bowstring wax regularly to protect the string and prolong its life.
  • Limb and Riser Inspection: Check the composite limbs and riser for any cracks, dents, or damage before each use.
  • Arrow Inspection: Before shooting, inspect each Safetyglass™ arrow for cracks, splinters, or bent shafts. Discard any damaged arrows immediately.
  • Storage: Store the bow in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. It is recommended to store the bow unstrung if it will not be used for an extended period, though this model is designed to be stored strung.
  • Cleaning: Wipe down the bow with a soft, damp cloth after use to remove dirt and debris. Avoid harsh chemicals.

Troubleshooting

  • Inconsistent Arrow Flight: Ensure arrows are properly nocked, the arrow rest is secure, and your shooting form is consistent. Check arrows for damage.
  • Bowstring Fraying: Apply bowstring wax. If fraying is severe, the bowstring may need to be replaced by a qualified technician.
  • Loose String at Rest (Sloppy String): Some users have reported the string appearing loose at lower draw weights. This can sometimes be a characteristic of certain compound bow designs. If it significantly impacts performance or safety, consult an archery professional. Ensure draw weight adjustments are made correctly.
  • Difficulty Drawing the Bow: Ensure the draw weight is set appropriately for the user's strength. If it feels too heavy, it may need to be adjusted to a lower setting.
