TP-Link TL-POE200

TP-Link TL-POE200 Power Over Ethernet Adapter Kit

User Manual

1. Introduction

The TP-Link TL-POE200 Power Over Ethernet Adapter Kit is designed to deliver both power and data to an Ethernet-enabled device over a single Ethernet cable. This kit is ideal for extending network connectivity to areas where power outlets are not readily available, such as for IP cameras, VoIP phones, or wireless access points. It simplifies installation by eliminating the need for separate power cables, allowing for flexible deployment of network devices up to 100 meters (328 feet) away.

2. Package Contents

Verify that your package contains the following items:

3. Product Overview

The TL-POE200 kit consists of two main components: the PoE Injector and the PoE Splitter. The Injector combines power and data onto a single Ethernet cable, while the Splitter separates them at the receiving end, providing power to the connected device and data to its Ethernet port.

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your TL-POE200 kit:

  1. Prepare the Injector:
    • Connect one end of an Ethernet cable from your network switch or router to the LAN port on the PoE Injector.
    • Connect the provided power adapter to the Injector's power input port and then plug the adapter into a power outlet. The power LED on the Injector should illuminate.
  2. Connect Injector to Splitter:
    • Run a single Ethernet cable (up to 100 meters / 328 feet) from the PoE port on the Injector to the PoE IN port on the PoE Splitter.
  3. Configure the Splitter:
    • Before connecting your device, use the voltage selector switch on the Splitter to choose the correct DC output voltage (5V, 9V, or 12V) required by your powered device. Refer to your device's specifications for the correct voltage.
    • Connect the short DC power cable from the Splitter's DC output port to your powered device's power input port.
    • Connect a short Ethernet cable from the Splitter's LAN OUT port to your powered device's Ethernet port.
  4. Verify Connection:
    • Once all connections are made, your powered device should receive both power and data. Check the status LEDs on both the Injector and Splitter, and on your powered device, to confirm proper operation.

The TL-POE200 kit is designed for plug-and-play operation and typically requires no software configuration.

5. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed, the TP-Link TL-POE200 kit operates automatically. It continuously supplies power and data through the Ethernet cable to your connected device. No further user intervention is typically required for its basic function.

6. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your TL-POE200 kit, consider the following maintenance guidelines:

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TL-POE200 kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  1. No Power to the Device:
    • Ensure the Injector's power adapter is securely plugged into a working power outlet and the Injector's power LED is on.
    • Verify that the Ethernet cable connecting the Injector and Splitter is properly seated and undamaged.
    • Check the voltage selector switch on the Splitter. Ensure it is set to the correct voltage (5V, 9V, or 12V) required by your powered device. An incorrect voltage setting can prevent the device from powering on or cause damage.
    • Confirm the short DC power cable from the Splitter is correctly connected to your device.
  2. No Data Connection:
    • Check all Ethernet cable connections between your network source, the Injector, the Splitter, and your powered device.
    • Ensure your network switch/router is functioning correctly.
    • Verify that the Ethernet cable length does not exceed 100 meters (328 feet).
    • Confirm the powered device's Ethernet port is operational.
  3. Intermittent Connection:
    • Inspect all cables for damage or loose connections.
    • Ensure the operating environment is stable and free from excessive electromagnetic interference.
    • Try power cycling both the Injector and the powered device.
  4. Compatibility Note:
    • The TL-POE200 kit is a passive PoE solution and is not IEEE 802.3af/at compliant. This means the injector and splitter units are designed to work together as a pair and may not be compatible with other standard 802.3af/at compliant PoE injectors or splitters. Using incompatible devices can lead to damage.
