Setup

1. Battery Installation

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
2. Slide the cover off.
3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
4. Replace the battery compartment cover.

2. Mouthpiece Attachment

• Select a clean mouthpiece.
• Firmly insert the mouthpiece into the designated port on the side of the breathalyzer.

Operating Instructions

The BACtrack Element is designed for simple, one-button operation.

1. Power On: Press and hold the power button (usually marked with a circle and vertical line) until the device powers on and begins its warm-up sequence.
2. Warm-up: The device will display a countdown as it warms up. Wait for this process to complete.
3. Prepare to Blow: Once the warm-up is complete, the device will indicate it is ready for a breath sample.
4. Provide Breath Sample:
   • Take a deep breath approximately 2-3 seconds before blowing into the device.
   • Blow steadily and continuously into the mouthpiece for the full 5-6 seconds until the device signals completion. Do not block any air holes or vents on the device.
5. View Results: Your estimated Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) will be displayed on the screen.
6. Power Off: The device will typically power off automatically after a short period of inactivity or after displaying the result.

Maintenance

Recalibration

Cleaning

Troubleshooting

"FLO" or "OUT" Error

These errors typically indicate an insufficient breath sample. Follow these steps:

• Ensure the mouthpiece is firmly inserted.
• Do not block any air holes or vents on the device during the test.
• Take a deep breath around the 2-3 second mark of the countdown before blowing.
• Blow steadily and continuously for the full 5-6 seconds. Avoid blowing too softly or too hard.

Inconsistent or Inaccurate Readings

• Recalibration: The device may require recalibration. Refer to the Maintenance section for more information.
• Waiting Period: Ensure at least 15-20 minutes have passed since your last drink or meal before testing. Residual alcohol in the mouth can cause elevated readings.
• Environmental Factors: Extreme temperatures or humidity can affect sensor performance. Use the device within its specified operating temperature range.
• Battery Level: Low battery can affect performance. Ensure batteries are fresh or fully charged.
