1. Introduction

The Yamaha Piaggero NP31 is a lightweight, compact, and portable digital keyboard designed to offer the authentic sound and feel of a Yamaha piano. 2. Setup

2.1 Powering the Keyboard

The NP31 can be powered in two ways:

  • AC Adaptor: Connect a compatible Yamaha PA150MM Keyboard AC Power Adapter (not included) to the DC IN jack on the rear panel.
  • Batteries: The keyboard operates on 6 AA batteries (CR123A batteries required, not included). Insert them into the battery compartment located on the underside of the unit.

Note: The keyboard does not fully power off when plugged in or on batteries; it enters a standby mode. Always unplug the AC adapter or remove batteries when not in use for extended periods to prevent power drain.

2.2 Connecting Accessories

The NP31 features several connectivity options:

  • Sustain Pedal: An optional sustain pedal (FC3A/FC4A/FC5) can be connected to the SUSTAIN jack for enhanced expressive control.
  • Headphones: For private practice, connect standard 3.5mm headphones to the HEADPHONES jack.
  • USB to Host: Connect the keyboard to a computer or iOS device using a USB cable for MIDI functionality and to interact with compatible applications.

3. Operating the Keyboard

3.1 Basic Controls

The control panel is designed for intuitive operation:

  • Power Button: Press and hold to turn the keyboard on or off.
  • Master Volume Knob: Adjusts the overall output volume of the speakers and headphone jack.

  • Piano: Two distinct piano voices.
  • Electric Piano: Two electric piano voices.
  • Organ: Two organ voices.
  • Strings: A rich string ensemble.
  • Vibraphone: A classic vibraphone sound.
  • Harpsichord: Two harpsichord voices.

3.3 Dual Voice Function

3.4 Metronome and Transpose Functions

The NP31 includes useful tools for practice and performance:

  • Metronome: A built-in metronome with adjustable tempo and time signature helps maintain rhythm during practice.

4. Maintenance
