Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the unit and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that the USB cable, owner's manual, and warranty card are included.
  2. Battery Installation (Optional AAA Batteries):

The unit can be powered by 3 AAA batteries (not included). Locate the battery compartment, typically on the back or bottom of the unit. Insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment securely.

  3. Initial Charging of Internal NiMH Battery:

The ARCPT300W contains a rechargeable NiMH battery. Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge this internal battery using one of the following methods:

    • USB Cable: Connect the included USB cable to the unit's DC-in port and to a powered USB source (e.g., computer, USB wall adapter - not included). The charging indicator LED will illuminate.
    • Hand Crank: Extend the hand crank and rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise for several minutes. One minute of cranking typically provides approximately 5 minutes of radio operation. Continue cranking until the battery indicator shows a sufficient charge.
    • AC Power (Adapter not included): If you have a compatible AC adapter, connect it to the DC-in port for charging.

Note: The charging LED may remain red even when fully charged if still plugged in. Unplug the unit to check the true charge status; a green LED indicates a full charge.

Operating Instructions

  1. Powering On/Off: Locate the power button or switch, typically marked "POWER" or with a universal power symbol. Press or slide to turn the unit on or off.
  2. Radio Tuning (AM/FM/NOAA):
    • Band Selection: Use the "BAND" selector knob or button to choose between AM (520-1710 KHz), FM (87-108MHz), or NOAA Weatherband (all 7 channels).
    • Tuning: Use the "TUNING" knob to scan for stations within the selected band. The digital display will show the frequency.
  3. NOAA Weather Alert:

When the NOAA Weatherband is selected and the alert feature is active, the unit will automatically broadcast weather alerts for your area. Ensure the unit is powered on or connected to a power source for continuous alert monitoring.

  4. USB Cell Phone Charger:

To charge a mobile device, connect your device's USB charging cable to the USB output port on the ARCP300W. Press the designated "CELL" or "USB CHARGE" button if available. The unit's internal battery will provide a charge to your device. Note that the unit may not provide a full charge to all devices, especially smartphones, but can provide enough power for emergency calls or short-term use.

  5. Flashlight:

Activate the integrated flashlight by pressing the dedicated flashlight button. The unit also features a flashing red LED beacon light for signaling during emergencies.

  6. Headphone Output & AUX-IN:

A 3.5mm headphone output allows for private listening. The AUX-IN input allows connection of external audio devices.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Unit does not power on.Internal battery drained, AAA batteries depleted or incorrectly installed.Charge the internal NiMH battery via USB or hand crank. Check and replace AAA batteries if used.

Try a different USB power source. If issues persist, the battery may need replacement.
Cell phone not charging or charging slowly.Unit's internal battery low, device compatibility, or safety circuit activation.Ensure the ARCPT300W's internal battery is fully charged. Note that the unit provides emergency power, not a full charge for all devices. Some devices may draw more power than the unit can supply efficiently.
Radio reception is poor.Weak signal, antenna not extended, or interference.Extend the telescopic antenna fully. Reposition the unit for better signal reception. Avoid sources of electronic interference.
Charging LED remains red after prolonged charging.Design characteristic.Unplug the unit from the charging source. If the internal battery is fully charged, the LED should turn green.

Factory Reset: To reset the unit to factory condition, unplug the rechargeable battery for approximately 30 minutes. This may require opening the back panel of the unit.
