3. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your VTech CS6124 Cordless Phone:
- Battery Installation and Charging: Open the battery compartment on the back of the handset. Connect the NiMH battery pack to the connector inside the compartment, ensuring correct polarity. Close the battery compartment. Place the handset in the base unit. For optimal performance, charge the battery for at least 16 hours before initial use.
- Connect the Base Unit: Plug the small end of the power adapter into the power jack on the back of the base unit. Plug the large end of the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Basic Call Functions
- Making a Call: Press TALK, then dial the phone number.
- Answering a Call: When the phone rings, press TALK.
- Ending a Call: Press OFF or place the handset back in the base unit.
- Flash Function: Press FLASH during a call to answer a waiting call or to use other network features.
- Mute: Press MUTE during a call to temporarily silence your microphone. Press again to unmute.

4.2 Answering System
The digital answering system records messages when you are away or unable to answer the phone.
- Turning On/Off: Press ANS ON/OFF on the base unit.
- Playing Messages: Press PLAY/STOP on the base unit. The LED message counter will display the number of new messages.
- Recording an Announcement: Follow the instructions in the full owner's manual to record your personalized outgoing message.
- Deleting Messages: Press DELETE during message playback to delete the current message.

4.3 Caller ID/Call Waiting
If you subscribe to Caller ID service, the handset display will show the caller's name and number before you answer.
