1. Introduction
The iRobot Virtual Wall Lighthouse is an accessory designed to work with compatible iRobot Roomba robotic vacuum cleaners. It serves two primary functions: guiding your Roomba through sequential room-to-room cleaning (Lighthouse mode) and blocking off-limit areas (Virtual Wall mode).

3. Features and Modes
The Virtual Wall Lighthouse offers two distinct operational modes, selectable via a switch on the device:
3.1. Lighthouse Mode
In Lighthouse mode, the device acts as a guide for your Roomba. It contains Roomba in one room until that room is completely vacuumed. Once the cleaning cycle for the first room is finished, the Lighthouse directs Roomba to proceed to the next room, enabling efficient room-to-room cleaning.
3.2. Virtual Wall Mode
In Virtual Wall mode, the device creates an invisible barrier that Roomba will not cross. This is useful for blocking off-limit areas in your home, such as pet bowls, delicate furniture, or areas with loose cables, preventing Roomba from entering them.

4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
The Virtual Wall Lighthouse requires two C-cell batteries (not included). To install:
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the bottom of the device.
- Insert two C-cell batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2. Placement
Proper placement is crucial for effective operation:
- Place the Virtual Wall Lighthouse on a flat surface, such as the floor, near the area you wish to manage.
- Ensure the device is positioned so that its signal is not obstructed by furniture or other objects.
- For Lighthouse mode, place the device in a doorway or opening between rooms.
- For Virtual Wall mode, place the device to create a barrier across the desired area.
5. Operation
To operate the Virtual Wall Lighthouse:
- Select the desired mode (Lighthouse or Virtual Wall) using the switch on the front of the device.
- Ensure the device is powered on. A small indicator light may illuminate to confirm it is active.
- When your compatible Roomba starts its cleaning cycle, it will automatically detect and interact with the Virtual Wall Lighthouse based on the selected mode.
- The device will automatically turn off when Roomba docks or finishes its cleaning cycle, conserving battery life.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Battery Replacement
When the indicator light on the Virtual Wall Lighthouse begins to flash or if the device is not functioning as expected, it may be time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 4.1.
6.2. Cleaning
Periodically wipe the exterior of the Virtual Wall Lighthouse with a clean, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
7. Troubleshooting
If your Virtual Wall Lighthouse is not functioning correctly, consider the following:
- Device not turning on: Check if the batteries are installed correctly and are not depleted. Replace batteries if necessary.
- Roomba not respecting the barrier/guidance: Ensure the Virtual Wall Lighthouse is placed correctly and its signal is not obstructed. Verify that your Roomba model is compatible with the device.
- Indicator light flashing: This typically indicates low battery. Replace the C-cell batteries.
- Interference: Other infrared devices or strong sunlight might interfere with the signal. Try repositioning the Lighthouse or Roomba.
