4. Setup Instructions

4.1. Connecting to Air Supply

  1. Ensure the air compressor is off and the air hose is disconnected.
  2. Apply a few drops of the included air tool oil into the air inlet of the nailer.
  3. Connect the air hose to the tool's air inlet.
  4. Set the air compressor pressure to the recommended operating range (typically 70-110 PSI, refer to specifications).
  5. Turn on the air compressor.

4.2. Loading Fasteners

  1. Pull back the pusher assembly until it locks into place.
  2. Insert the desired fasteners (16 gauge T-cleats, 16 gauge L-cleats, or 15.5 gauge 1/2" crown flooring staples) into the magazine. Ensure the fasteners are oriented correctly.
  3. Release the pusher assembly to gently push the fasteners forward.

4.3. Attaching Base Plates

The tool comes with two interchangeable no-mar base plates to protect finished flooring surfaces. Select the appropriate base plate for your flooring thickness (e.g., 1/2" to 3/4"). Securely attach the chosen base plate to the tool's foot using the provided adjustment tools.

5. Operating Instructions

The Freeman PDX50C is designed for blind nailing/stapling into the tongue of tongue and groove flooring. This method conceals the fasteners for a clean finish.

  1. Position the tool's base plate firmly on the flooring plank, ensuring the foot is aligned with the tongue of the board.
  2. Strike the tool's activation plunger with the included fiberglass mallet. A firm, single strike is usually sufficient to drive the fastener.
  3. Inspect the driven fastener to ensure it is flush and properly seated. Adjust air pressure if fasteners are not driven deep enough or are overdriven.
  4. Repeat the process for subsequent planks, maintaining consistent spacing and alignment.
