1. Introduction

3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Pantech UML290 USB Modem:

  1. Insert SIM Card: Locate the SIM card slot on the modem. Carefully insert your Verizon Wireless SIM card into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the SIM card is oriented correctly as indicated by the diagram on the modem or in the quick start guide.
  2. Connect to Computer: Plug the USB modem directly into an available USB port on your laptop. You may use the provided USB extension cable if direct connection is inconvenient or if the modem obstructs adjacent ports. The modem's USB connector can rotate 180 degrees for optimal positioning.
  3. Install VZAccess Manager: Upon connecting the modem, your computer may automatically prompt you to install the VZAccess Manager software. If not, insert the provided CD and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software. VZAccess Manager is essential for managing your connection and modem settings.
  4. Driver Installation: The VZAccess Manager installation typically includes all necessary drivers. Allow the installation to complete fully. Restart your computer if prompted.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the modem is set up and VZAccess Manager is installed, you can begin using your wireless internet connection.

  1. Launch VZAccess Manager: Open the VZAccess Manager application from your desktop or Start menu.
  2. Connect to Network: Within the VZAccess Manager interface, locate the 'Connect' button or option. Click it to initiate a connection to the Verizon Wireless network. The software will display your connection status, signal strength, and network type (4G LTE or 3G).
  3. Monitor Connection: VZAccess Manager provides real-time information on your connection, including data usage and signal strength. A strong signal is indicated by more bars or a higher percentage.
  4. Disconnect: To end your internet session, click the 'Disconnect' button within VZAccess Manager. Always disconnect before removing the modem from your computer.
  5. External Antenna (Optional): If you are in an area with weak signal, you can connect an optional external antenna to the modem's external antenna port to improve reception.
