3. Setup
3.1. Battery Installation
The calculator operates on a Twin Power system, utilizing both solar power and a single LR44 button cell battery. The battery is typically pre-installed. If the display becomes dim or unresponsive in low light, the battery may need replacement.
- Ensure the calculator is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the calculator.
- Use a small screwdriver to open the compartment cover.
- Remove the old LR44 battery and insert a new one, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the compartment cover and secure it with the screw.
3.2. Initial Power On
Press the ON/C button to turn on the calculator. The display will show the initial screen. If the display is blank, ensure sufficient light for solar power or check the battery.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Basic Operations
Perform standard arithmetic calculations using the number keys and operators (+, -, x, ÷). Press = to get the result. The calculator uses Direct Algebraic Input Logic (D.A.L.), allowing you to input equations in a natural order.
4.2. WriteView Display
The WriteView display allows you to enter and view mathematical expressions and symbols as they appear in textbooks. This 96 x 32 dot matrix display supports up to 4 lines of content. Use the cursor keys to navigate and edit expressions.
4.3. Scientific Functions
Access various scientific functions using the dedicated keys and the 2nd F key for secondary functions. These include:
- Trigonometric Functions: sin, cos, tan, and their inverse functions (sin-1, cos-1, tan-1).
- Hyperbolic Functions: hyp, and their inverse functions.
- Logarithmic and Exponential Functions: log, ln, 10x, ex.
- Power and Root Functions: x2, √, xy, y√x.
- Factorial, Permutations, Combinations: n!, nPr, nCr.
- Constants: Pi (π), EXP.
4.4. Statistical Functions
The calculator supports statistical calculations for 1-variable and 2-variable data. To enter statistical mode, press MODE and select the appropriate statistical option. Functions include:
- Mean value (x̄, ȳ)
- Standard deviation (σx, σy, sx, sy)
- Sum of values (Σx, Σy, Σx2, Σy2, Σxy)
- Regression analysis (linear, quadratic, exponential, etc.)
4.5. Memory Functions
The calculator has 9 independent memories (A-F, X, Y, M) to store and recall values. Use the STO key to store a value and the RCL key to recall a stored value. M+ and M- are used to add or subtract values from the independent memory M.
4.6. Angle Units
The calculator supports three angle units: Degrees (DEG), Radians (RAD), and Gradians (GRAD). Press the DRG key to cycle through these units or use the SET UP menu to select the desired unit.
4.7. Number Systems
Perform calculations and conversions in different number bases: Decimal (DEC), Hexadecimal (HEX), Octal (OCT), Binary (BIN), and Pentary (PEN). Use the dedicated keys or the MODE menu to switch between number systems.
4.8. Shortcut Keys (D1-D4)
The four shortcut keys (D1, D2, D3, D4) can be programmed to quickly access frequently used functions. Refer to the calculator's on-screen setup menu for instructions on how to assign functions to these keys.
