The Heidolph Hei-Mix S is a compact magnetic stirrer designed for gentle stirring applications in biology and microbiology. Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the Hei-Mix S magnetic stirrer from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit. Retain the original packaging for future transport or storage.
2. Placement: Place the stirrer on a stable, level, and vibration-free surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
3. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the stirrer's power input, then plug the other end into a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the power supply matches the voltage requirements specified on the device label.
4. Vessel Placement: Place the stirring vessel (e.g., beaker, flask) containing the liquid and a suitable magnetic stir bar onto the center of the stirrer's top plate.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off: Locate the main power switch on the front panel of the stirrer. To turn the unit on, press the switch to the 'I' (On) position. To turn it off, press the '0' (Off) position.
2. Adjusting Stirring Speed: The Hei-Mix S features a rotary dial for speed control. Turn the dial clockwise to increase the stirring speed and counter-clockwise to decrease it. The speed range extends up to 2,200 rpm. Start with a low speed and gradually increase it to achieve the desired mixing intensity, avoiding splashing.
3. Monitoring Stirring: Observe the stirring action to ensure the magnetic stir bar is rotating smoothly and effectively mixing the contents of the vessel. Adjust the speed as necessary.
4. Completion: Once stirring is complete, turn the speed dial to the minimum setting (0) and then switch off the unit using the main power switch. Carefully remove the stirring vessel from the top plate.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Disconnect the unit from the power supply before cleaning. Wipe the exterior surfaces and the top plate with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn stains, a mild detergent can be used. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the housing or top plate material. Ensure no liquid enters the internal components.
• Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord for any signs of damage. Check the top plate for scratches or wear that might affect performance.
• Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the stirrer in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. It is recommended to store it in its original packaging if available.
