Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use and maintenance of your Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V digital still camera. The DSC-HX9V is equipped with a 16.2 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor, a 16x optical zoom G lens, and supports Full HD 1080/60p video recording. Setup
1. Inserting the Battery and Memory Card
Open the battery/memory card cover on the bottom of the camera. Insert the NP-BG1 battery pack with the correct orientation until it clicks into place. Insert a compatible memory card (SD/SDHC/SDXC/Memory Stick Duo/Memory Stick Pro Duo/Memory Stick Pro-HG Duo) into the memory card slot until it clicks. Close the cover securely.

2. Charging the Battery
Connect the camera to the AC Adaptor using the multi-use terminal USB cable. Plug the AC Adaptor into a wall outlet. The charge lamp will illuminate during charging and turn off when charging is complete. A full charge typically takes approximately 2-3 hours.
3. Initial Settings
Upon first power-on, the camera will prompt you to set the date, time, and time zone. Follow the on-screen instructions using the control buttons on the back of the camera.

Operating the Camera
1. Power On/Off
Press the ON/OFF button located on the top of the camera to power it on or off.

2. Shooting Modes
Rotate the mode dial on the top of the camera to select your desired shooting mode:
- Intelligent Auto: Automatically detects the scene and adjusts settings for optimal results.
- Superior Auto: Combines multiple shots to produce images with greater clarity and reduced noise, especially in challenging conditions.
- Program Auto (P): Allows manual control over some settings while the camera sets exposure.
- Manual (M): Provides full manual control over aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
- Scene Selection (SCN): Offers preset modes for specific scenes (e.g., Landscape, Portrait, Night Scene).
- Sweep Panorama: Captures panoramic images by sweeping the camera horizontally or vertically.
- 3D Still Image / 3D Sweep Panorama: Captures images for 3D viewing (requires compatible 3D display).
- Movie Mode: For recording videos.
3. Taking Photos
- Select a shooting mode using the mode dial.
- Frame your shot using the 3.0-inch XtraFine LCD display.
- Adjust the zoom using the zoom lever around the shutter button. The 16x optical zoom G lens allows for close-ups of distant subjects.
- Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The camera features Hi-speed Linear Focus for quick and accurate focusing.
- Press the shutter button fully to capture the image.
4. Recording Videos
To record a video, rotate the mode dial to the Movie Mode or press the dedicated MOVIE button on the back of the camera. Press the MOVIE button again to stop recording. The camera supports Full HD 1080/60p video recording.
5. Playback
Press the Playback button (triangle icon) on the back of the camera to view your captured photos and videos. Use the control wheel to navigate through your media.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Camera

- Lens: Use a lens brush to remove dust, then gently wipe with a lens cleaning cloth. Avoid touching the lens surface with your fingers.
- LCD Screen: Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid pressing hard on the screen.
2. Storage
Store the camera in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humidity. Remove the battery if the camera will not be used for an extended period.

- Camera does not power on: Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted.
- Images are blurry: Check if Optical SteadyShot is enabled. Ensure sufficient lighting. Clean the lens.
- Memory card error: Ensure the memory card is inserted correctly and is compatible. Try formatting the card (this will erase all data).
- Flash does not fire: Check flash settings. Ensure the flash is not set to "Off" or in a mode where it is suppressed.
- Cannot connect to computer: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the camera and the computer. Check computer's device manager for driver issues.
