1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W530 digital camera. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the camera and retain it for future reference.

2. Setup
2.1. Battery Installation and Charging
- Open the battery/memory card cover on the bottom of the camera.
- Insert the supplied Lithium-Ion battery pack (NP-BN1) with the correct orientation, ensuring the orange lock lever clicks into place.
- Close the cover securely.
- Connect the camera to the supplied AC adapter and power cord to charge the battery. The CHARGE lamp will light up during charging and turn off when complete.
2.2. Memory Card Insertion
- The camera supports SD/SDHC/SDXC and Memory Stick Duo/Pro Duo/Pro-HG Duo cards.
- With the battery/memory card cover open, insert the memory card into the slot until it clicks. Ensure the correct orientation.
- Close the cover.
2.3. Initial Power On
- Press the POWER button to turn on the camera.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to set the date, time, and language.
3. Operating the Camera

3.1. Basic Photography
- Power On/Off: Press the POWER button.
- Shutter Button: Press halfway to focus, press fully to take a picture.
- Zoom: Use the W/T lever (Wide/Telephoto) to adjust the optical zoom.
- Mode Dial: Rotate the mode dial to select your desired shooting mode.
3.2. Shooting Modes
- Intelligent Auto (iAuto) Mode: The camera automatically detects the scene, lighting conditions, and faces, then adjusts settings for optimal results.
- Sweep Panorama Mode: Press the shutter button and sweep the camera horizontally or vertically. The camera stitches multiple images into a single panoramic photo.
- Program Auto Mode: Allows manual adjustment of ISO sensitivity and other settings while the camera sets exposure.
3.3. Special Features
- Face Detection: Detects up to eight faces and optimizes focus, exposure, and white balance.
- Smile Shutter: Automatically captures a photo when a smile is detected.
- Soft Skin Mode: Reduces the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles on portrait subjects.
- SteadyShot Image Stabilization: Digitally compensates for camera shake to reduce blur.
- Natural Flash: Corrects flash color for more lifelike images by taking a reference shot without flash.
- Self-Portrait Timer: Uses Face Detection to trigger a 2-second timer when your face enters the frame.
- Anti-blink Function: Helps prevent photos with blinking subjects by capturing two images and saving the one with less squinting.
- Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO): Recovers shadow and highlight details for more natural images.
- High Sensitivity Mode (ISO 3200): Allows for faster shutter speeds in low light conditions without flash.
3.4. Video Recording
- The camera records videos in 480p AVI format at 30 frames per second (fps).
- To start recording, select the movie mode on the mode dial and press the movie button. Press again to stop.
3.5. Playback
- Press the Playback button (usually indicated by a triangle icon) to view captured images and videos.
- Use the directional buttons to navigate through your media.
4. Maintenance
4.1. Cleaning the Camera
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera body.
- For the lens and LCD screen, use a lens brush or a soft cloth specifically designed for optical surfaces. Avoid harsh chemicals.
