3. Operating the VoiceTone C1
The VoiceTone C1 offers straightforward controls for vocal pitch correction and gender effects.
3.1 Controls Overview

Figure 3.1: Top view of the VoiceTone C1 with key controls labeled.
- 1. Key/Chromatic Knob: This knob sets the musical key for pitch correction. You can select specific keys (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) or choose 'CH' (Chromatic) for general pitch correction without a specific key. If an instrument is connected to the INST IN, the unit will automatically detect the key.
- 2. Correction Knob (Off to Hard): Controls the intensity of the pitch correction.
- Off: No pitch correction applied.
- Subtle Correction: Lower settings provide transparent and natural pitch correction, ideal for slight vocal imperfections.
- HardTune Effect: Higher settings (towards 'Hard') create the distinct, robotic "HardTune" or auto-tune effect.
- 3. Gender Knob: Adjusts the perceived gender of the vocal. Turning it left lowers the pitch for a more masculine sound, while turning it right raises the pitch for a more feminine sound. Use subtly for natural variations or more extremely for special effects.
- 4. Footswitch: Toggles the effect on or off. The LED indicator above the footswitch illuminates when the effect is active.
- Mic Gain: Located on the side of the unit, this trim pot adjusts the input level from your microphone. Set it so the input LED flashes green during normal singing and only occasionally red on peaks.
3.2 Applying Effects
To apply effects, ensure your microphone and output connections are secure. Adjust the Mic Gain for optimal input level. Then, select your desired key or chromatic mode, and dial in the amount of pitch correction and gender effect using their respective knobs. Engage the effect using the footswitch.

5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your VoiceTone C1, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
