Wiring Instructions

1. Red Wire: Connect to a switched 12-volt source that is active when the ignition is on. This powers the 2-Step unit.
2. Black Wire: Connect to a good chassis ground. Ensure a clean, secure connection.
3. White Wire: This is the trigger wire. Connect this wire to the clutch pedal switch (for manual transmissions) or a momentary switch on the shifter (for automatic transmissions). When this wire is grounded, the 2-Step RPM limit will be active.

Operating Instructions

The MSD 8732 allows you to set a precise RPM limit for launch control using two rotary dials on the front of the unit.

Setting the RPM Limit

• x1,000 Dial (Left): This dial sets the RPM in thousands. For example, setting it to '4' means 4,000 RPM.
• x100 Dial (Right): This dial sets the RPM in hundreds. For example, setting it to '5' means 500 RPM.

To calculate the total RPM limit, multiply the setting on the x1,000 dial by 1,000 and add the setting on the x100 dial multiplied by 100.

Example: If the x1,000 dial is set to '5' and the x100 dial is set to '2', the RPM limit will be (5 x 1,000) + (2 x 100) = 5,000 + 200 = 5,200 RPM.

Activating the 2-Step

The 2-Step RPM limit becomes active when the trigger wire (white wire) is grounded. This is typically done by depressing the clutch pedal (for manual transmissions) or activating a momentary switch (for automatic transmissions). When the trigger is released, the engine will operate at its normal RPM limit (if set by the main ignition box) or without a limit.

Maintenance
