3. Initial Setup and First Use
3.1. Unpacking
- Remove all packaging materials from the machine.
- Place the machine on a stable, flat surface, away from water sources and heat.
3.2. Filling the Water Tank
- Remove the water tank from the back of the machine.
- Rinse the tank with fresh water.
- Fill the tank with fresh, cold tap water up to the MAX level indicator.
- Replace the water tank securely in the machine.
3.3. Filling the Bean Hopper
- Open the lid of the bean hopper located on top of the machine.
- Pour fresh coffee beans into the hopper. Do not use caramelized or instant coffee.
- Close the lid.
3.4. Initial Rinse Cycle
- Place a container under the coffee spouts.
- Plug the machine into a power outlet and press the ON/OFF button.
- The machine will perform an automatic rinse cycle. Wait until the indicator lights stabilize.
- Empty the container. Your machine is now ready for use.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Making Espresso
- Ensure the water tank is filled and the bean hopper contains coffee beans.
- Place one or two cups under the coffee spouts.
- Adjust the coffee strength using the rotary knob (from minimum to maximum).
- Select the desired coffee volume (single or double espresso) using the corresponding buttons.
- The machine will grind the beans, brew, and dispense the coffee.

4.2. Using Pre-Ground Coffee
- Open the pre-ground coffee funnel lid.
- Add one level scoop of pre-ground coffee (for a single espresso). Do not add more than one scoop.
- Place a cup under the coffee spout.
- Press the pre-ground coffee button.
4.3. Frothing Milk for Cappuccino
- Fill a pitcher with cold milk (preferably skim or semi-skimmed) to about one-third full.
- Turn the steam knob to the steam position. Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate steadily.
- Immerse the steam nozzle into the milk, just below the surface.
- Open the steam knob fully to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down to create foam.
- Once desired foam is achieved, close the steam knob and remove the pitcher.
- Clean the steam nozzle immediately after use with a damp cloth.

4.4. Hot Water Function
- Place a cup under the steam nozzle.
- Press the hot water button.
- Hot water will be dispensed. Press the button again to stop.
5. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your coffee machine.
5.1. Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container: Empty and rinse daily. The machine will indicate when the grounds container needs emptying.
- Water Tank: Rinse daily and refill with fresh water.
- Coffee Spouts: Wipe with a damp cloth.
5.2. Cleaning the Brewing Unit
The brewing unit should be cleaned monthly or when indicated by the machine.
- Ensure the machine is off and unplugged.
- Open the service door on the right side of the machine.
- Press the two red release buttons and pull the brewing unit outwards to remove it.
- Rinse the brewing unit thoroughly under running tap water. Do not use detergents.
- Allow it to air dry completely before reinserting.
- Push the brewing unit back into place until it clicks. Close the service door.

5.3. Descaling
The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Use only De'Longhi descaling solution.
- Empty the water tank and pour the descaling solution into it, diluted as per the descaler instructions.
- Place a large container under the coffee spouts and steam nozzle.
- Follow the specific descaling procedure outlined in the full manual or indicated by the machine's display/lights.
- After descaling, perform several rinse cycles with fresh water to remove any descaler residue.
