Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Monster Universal Learning Remote, Model 121713. This remote is designed to simplify your home entertainment experience by consolidating multiple remote controls into one easy-to-use device.

Setup
Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
- Slide the battery cover downwards and lift to open.
- Insert four (4) AAA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery cover by sliding it back into place until it clicks securely.
Initial Programming and Learning
The Monster Universal Learning Remote features both built-in codes for common devices and a learning function for less common or new devices. It uses infrared technology to communicate with your devices.

Using Built-in Codes
The remote comes pre-programmed with codes for hundreds of AV components. To use a built-in code:
- Turn on the device you wish to control (e.g., Television).
- Press and hold the corresponding device button on the remote (e.g., TV, DVD, STB, AVR).
- While holding the device button, enter the 3-digit code for your device brand (refer to the separate code list provided with your remote or available online).
- Release the device button. Test the remote's functions. If the device does not respond, try the next code for your brand.
Using the Learning Function
The learning function allows the Monster remote to mimic signals from your original remote control.
- Place the Monster remote and your original remote control on a flat surface, facing each other, with their infrared emitters aligned and approximately 1-2 inches apart.
- Press and hold the SHIFT button on the Monster remote until the indicator light blinks.
- Press the device button on the Monster remote that corresponds to the device you want to program (e.g., TV).
- Press the button on the Monster remote that you wish to teach a function (e.g., POWER). The indicator light will illuminate steadily.
- Press and hold the corresponding button on your original remote (e.g., original remote's POWER button) until the indicator light on the Monster remote blinks rapidly, indicating successful learning.
- Repeat step 4 and 5 for all other buttons you wish to program.
- To exit learning mode, press the SHIFT button again.
Operating the Remote
The Monster Universal Learning Remote is designed for intuitive control of your entertainment system. Its ergonomic design and backlit buttons enhance usability in various lighting conditions.

Basic Controls
- ON/OFF: Powers your selected device on or off.

- CH +/-: Changes channels on your TV or set-top box.

- Backlit Buttons: The remote features backlighting for easy use in dim or dark settings. This feature activates automatically when buttons are pressed.
- SHIFT Button: The SHIFT button allows access to secondary functions of certain buttons, indicated by smaller icons or text. Press SHIFT once to activate, then press the desired function button.

Maintenance
