1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent electric shock, fire, or damage to the unit.

• Power Source: Connect the subwoofer only to an AC power outlet of the voltage specified on the rear panel.
• Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit. Do not block ventilation openings.

4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove the subwoofer from its packaging. It is recommended to place the subwoofer in a corner of the room for optimal bass response, though experimentation with placement may yield different results depending on room acoustics.

4.2 Connections

Before making any connections, ensure the subwoofer is unplugged from the power outlet.

• LFE Input (Recommended): Connect an RCA cable from the LFE or Subwoofer Output of your AV receiver to the LFE input on the SDS-10.
• Stereo RCA Inputs: If your receiver does not have an LFE output, connect RCA cables from the Left and Right pre-out outputs of your receiver to the corresponding Left and Right inputs on the subwoofer.
• Power Connection: Once all audio connections are made, connect the supplied power cord to the AC IN receptacle on the subwoofer and then to a wall outlet.

5. Operating the Subwoofer

5.1 Power On/Off

The subwoofer features a signal-sensing power on/off function. When an audio signal is detected, the subwoofer will automatically power on. After a period of inactivity, it will enter a low-power standby mode.

• To manually power on, ensure the main power switch on the rear panel is in the "ON" position.
• To fully power off, switch the main power switch to the "OFF" position.

5.2 Controls and Adjustments

The SDS-10 offers several controls on its rear panel for fine-tuning its performance to your listening environment and preferences.

• Volume Control: Adjusts the overall output level of the subwoofer. Start with a low setting and gradually increase until the bass blends seamlessly with your main speakers.
• Crossover Control: Determines the upper frequency limit of the subwoofer. This control allows you to match the subwoofer's output to the low-frequency capabilities of your main speakers. Typical settings range from 80Hz to 120Hz. If using an AV receiver with bass management, set the subwoofer's crossover to its maximum setting or bypass it if the receiver allows.
• Phase Control: Adjusts the phase of the subwoofer's output relative to your main speakers. This helps ensure that the bass waves from the subwoofer align correctly with those from your main speakers, preventing cancellation or reinforcement issues. Experiment with 0° and 180° settings to find the one that produces the most impactful and coherent bass.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Sunfire Dynamic SDS-10 Subwoofer, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the cabinet. Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosol cleaners, or harsh chemicals, as they may damage the finish.

• Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are not obstructed by dust or other objects.
