Always use the generator outdoors in a well-ventilated area, far away from windows, doors, and vents. Never use it inside a home, garage, basement, crawlspace, shed, or any other enclosed or partially enclosed area.

Setup

Before initial operation, ensure all packaging materials and shipping braces are removed. The generator does not ship with oil or fuel. You must add these before starting.

1. Add Engine Oil: Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick (often yellow) on the engine. Add approximately 20 ounces of 10W-30 engine oil. Do not overfill.
2. Add Fuel: Open the fuel cap on top of the generator. Add fresh, 87 minimum octane gasoline. The tank capacity is 4 gallons. Do not use old or contaminated fuel.
3. Install Wheel Kit (Optional): If you purchased a wheel kit, install it now. This will greatly assist in moving the heavy unit.
4. Ground the Unit: For safety, ensure the generator is properly grounded using a copper wire connected to the grounding wing nut.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to safely start and operate your generator:

1. Turn Main Breaker OFF: Locate the main breaker switch on the control panel and ensure it is in the "OFF" position.
2. Turn Fuel Valve ON: Locate the fuel valve on the side of the engine and turn it to the "ON" position.
3. Close Choke: Locate the choke lever (usually near the air filter) and move it to the "CLOSED" position.
4. Turn Engine Switch ON: Locate the engine switch on the control panel and flip it to the "ON" position.
5. Pull Recoil Start: Firmly pull the recoil starter cord until the engine starts. It may take 1-3 pulls.
6. Open Choke: Once the engine starts, slowly move the choke lever to the "OPEN" position.
7. Connect Devices: After the generator has been running for a few minutes, flip the main breaker to "ON" and connect your electrical devices. Start with the most intensive loads first.

To shut down the generator, first disconnect all loads, then turn the engine switch to "OFF".

• Oil Changes: Perform the first oil change after 20 hours of operation to remove any metal debris from initial use. Subsequent oil changes should be done every 50-100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use 10W-30 oil.
• Air Filter: Regularly inspect and clean the foam air filter. Wash with dishwashing liquid and warm water, then dry thoroughly before reinstallation.
• Spark Plug: Regularly inspect and clean the spark plug. Replace if worn or fouled.
• Fuel Management: Always use fresh gasoline. For long-term storage (over 6 months), drain the fuel tank and carburetor, or use a fuel stabilizer to prevent gumming.
• General Inspection: Periodically check all nuts and bolts for tightness, as vibrations during operation can cause them to loosen.

Troubleshooting

If your generator is not operating as expected, consider the following common issues:

• Engine Won't Start:
  • Check fuel level: Ensure there is fresh gasoline in the tank.
  • Check oil level: The low oil shutoff feature will prevent starting if oil is too low.
  • Choke position: Ensure the choke is in the "CLOSED" position for starting, then moved to "OPEN" once running.
  • Engine switch: Verify the engine switch is in the "ON" position.
  • Spark plug: Check for a fouled or loose spark plug.
