- Prepare the Sink/Countertop: Ensure the three faucet holes are clean and free of debris. The center-to-center distance between the outer holes should be 8 inches.
- Install the Faucet Body (Spout):
- Insert the spout base through the center hole of the sink/countertop.
- From underneath, secure the spout with the provided washer and mounting nut. Hand-tighten first, then use a wrench to snug it, ensuring the spout is properly aligned.
- Install the Handle Assemblies:
- Insert the hot and cold handle assemblies into their respective outer holes.
- From underneath, secure each handle assembly with its washer and mounting nut. Ensure the handles are oriented correctly for operation.
- Connect Water Supply Lines:
- Connect the hot and cold water supply lines to the corresponding inlets on the faucet body and to your home's water supply valves. Use thread sealant tape on all threaded connections.
- Ensure connections are tight but do not overtighten.
- Install Pop-up Drain Assembly:
- Follow the instructions provided with the pop-up drain assembly to install it into the sink drain hole. Ensure a watertight seal.
- Connect the pop-up rod to the faucet's lift rod mechanism.
- Test for Leaks:
- Once all connections are made, slowly turn on the main water supply.
- Check all connections for leaks. If leaks are present, tighten the connections as needed.
- Run water through the faucet for a few minutes to flush out any debris from the lines.
Operating Instructions
Your Newport Brass 2040 faucet features two metal lever handles for precise control of water flow and temperature.
- Turning On/Off: Rotate the lever handles away from the spout to turn on the water. Rotate them back towards the spout to turn off the water.
- Adjusting Water Flow: The further you rotate the handles, the greater the water flow.
- Adjusting Temperature: The left handle typically controls hot water, and the right handle controls cold water. Adjust both handles simultaneously to achieve your desired water temperature.
- Pop-up Drain Operation: Push down on the lift rod located behind the spout to close the drain stopper. Pull up on the lift rod to open the drain stopper.
Care and Maintenance
To maintain the beautiful Satin Gold (PVD) finish and ensure the longevity of your Newport Brass faucet, follow these care instructions:
- Regular Cleaning: Clean the faucet regularly with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
- Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, ammonia-based products, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish.
- Protect the Finish: Avoid direct contact with harsh chemicals found in some bathroom cleaners, hair dyes, or nail polish removers.
- Aerator Cleaning: If water flow decreases, the aerator may be clogged. Unscrew the aerator from the end of the spout, clean any debris, and reattach.
