1. Introduction

The AdderLink iPeps is a compact, platform-independent KVM over IP gateway designed to provide secure, remote access to computers from anywhere in the world via the Internet or a corporate network.   1. Connect to Computer:
    • Connect the VGA cable from the computer's video output to the VGA input port on the AdderLink iPeps.
    • Connect the USB cable from the computer's USB port to the USB port on the AdderLink iPeps. This provides power to the unit and enables virtual media support. Alternatively, connect PS/2 keyboard and mouse cables from the computer to the respective PS/2 ports on the iPeps.
  2. Connect to Network:
    • Connect an Ethernet cable from your network switch or router to the RJ45 network port on the AdderLink iPeps.
  3. Power On:
    • If using the optional external power supply, connect it to the power input port on the AdderLink iPeps and then to a power outlet. If powering via USB, ensure the USB connection to the computer is active.
    • Once powered, the unit will initiate its startup sequence.

3.3 Initial Network Configuration

The AdderLink iPeps typically obtains an IP address via DHCP by default. For initial access or if DHCP is not available, you may need to use a network scanner or direct connection to configure its IP address. 4. Operating the AdderLink iPeps

Once the AdderLink iPeps is connected and configured on your network, you can begin remote operation.

4.1 Remote Access via VNC Client

  1. Install VNC Client: On your remote computer, install a Real VNC client software. The AdderLink iPeps is optimized for secure, high-performance KVM over IP applications using Real VNC.
  2. Connect to iPeps: Launch the VNC client and enter the IP address of your AdderLink iPeps unit.
  3. Authenticate: You will be prompted for a username and password. Use the default credentials or any custom credentials you have set during initial configuration.
  4. Remote Control: Upon successful authentication, you will gain full KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) control over the connected computer.

4.2 Virtual Media Functionality

The AdderLink iPeps supports virtual media, allowing you to mount ISO images or USB drives from your remote computer to the target computer. This is useful for installing operating systems, software, or transferring files.
