Introduction

The Plantronics K100 is an in-car Bluetooth speakerphone designed to provide clear, hands-free communication and audio streaming while driving. Its slim profile allows for convenient placement on your car's visor. This device enables you to broadcast calls, GPS navigation, and music from your mobile phone via a Bluetooth connection, enhancing safety and convenience on the road.

Key features include dual microphones and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for noise reduction, voice alerts for status updates, and large, easy-to-locate buttons for intuitive control. The K100 also features an A2DP profile for streaming audio and a built-in FM transmitter to play audio through your car's stereo system.

Setup

1. Charging the Speakerphone

Before initial use, fully charge your Plantronics K100 speakerphone. Connect the included in-car charger to the speakerphone's charging port and plug it into your vehicle's power outlet. The LED indicator will show charging status. A full charge provides up to 17 hours of talk time or 15 days of standby time.

2. Mounting the Speakerphone

The K100 is designed to clip onto your car's sun visor. Position the speakerphone on the visor for optimal microphone and speaker performance, ensuring it does not obstruct your view or interfere with vehicle operation.

3. Pairing with Your Mobile Phone

1. Power On: Slide the Power switch to the ON position. The speakerphone will announce "Power On" and the LED will flash blue.
2. Enter Pairing Mode: If this is the first time using the K100, it will automatically enter pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Call button until the LED flashes red and blue, and you hear "Pairing."
3. Activate Bluetooth on Phone: On your mobile phone, go to the Bluetooth settings and search for new devices.
4. Select K100: Select "Plantronics K100" from the list of found devices. If prompted for a passcode, enter "0000" (four zeros).
5. Confirm Pairing: Once successfully paired, the speakerphone will announce "Pairing successful" and the LED will stop flashing red/blue and flash blue periodically.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off

• Power On: Slide the Power switch to the ON position.
• Power Off: Slide the Power switch to the OFF position.

2. Making and Receiving Calls

• Answer a Call: Press the Call button once.
• End a Call: Press the Call button once.
• Reject a Call: Press and hold the Call button for 2 seconds.
• Make a Call: Initiate a call from your phone. The audio will automatically transfer to the K100.
• Redial Last Number: Double-press the Call button.

3. Adjusting Volume

Rotate the Volume dial clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease volume during a call or audio playback.

4. Mute Function

During a call, press the Mute button (microphone icon) to mute your microphone. Press it again to unmute. The speakerphone will provide a voice alert when muted or unmuted.

5. Audio Streaming (A2DP)

The K100 supports A2DP, allowing you to stream music, podcasts, and GPS navigation audio from your A2DP-enabled mobile phone. Simply start playback on your phone, and the audio will be routed through the K100 speakerphone.

6. Using the FM Transmitter

To broadcast calls and streamed audio through your car's FM radio:

1. Activate FM Transmitter: Press the FM button on the K100. The speakerphone will announce the current FM frequency.
2. Tune Car Radio: Tune your car's FM radio to the same frequency announced by the K100.
3. Adjust Frequency: If you encounter static, press the FM button again to cycle through available frequencies until you find a clear one. Adjust your car radio accordingly.
4. Deactivate FM Transmitter: Press the FM button again to turn off the FM transmitter and revert audio to the K100's internal speaker.

7. Voice Alerts

The K100 provides voice alerts for various statuses, including power on/off, connection status, volume adjustments, and mute status. These alerts help you stay informed without needing to look at the device.

Maintenance

1. Battery Care

To maximize battery life, avoid fully discharging the speakerphone frequently. Charge the device when the low battery alert is given. Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.

2. Cleaning

Wipe the speakerphone with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the charging port is free of dust and debris.

Troubleshooting

• No Power/Won't Charge:
  Ensure the power switch is ON. Verify the charger is properly connected to both the speakerphone and a working power outlet in your vehicle. Check for any damage to the charging cable or port.
• Cannot Pair with Phone:
  Ensure the K100 is in pairing mode (LED flashing red and blue). Turn off and then on your phone's Bluetooth. Delete any previous K100 pairings from your phone's Bluetooth list and try pairing again. Ensure the K100 is sufficiently charged.
• Poor Audio Quality (Calls/Streaming):
  Check the volume level on both the K100 and your phone. Ensure the speakerphone is positioned correctly on the visor, away from obstructions. If using the FM transmitter, try a different FM frequency to avoid interference. Ensure your phone is within Bluetooth range (typically 33 feet or 10 meters).
• FM Transmitter Static:
  Cycle through different FM frequencies on the K100 until you find a clear, unused frequency. Tune your car radio precisely to that frequency. Environmental factors and local radio stations can cause interference.
• Short Battery Life:
  Ensure the speakerphone is fully charged before use. Excessive volume levels or continuous FM transmitter use can reduce battery life. Ensure the device is powered off when not in use.
