1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the AIWA Portable CD Player XP-V5260C. This device is designed to provide high-quality audio playback from your favorite compact discs, including CD-R/RW formats. It features a 48-second Electronic Anti-Shock System (EASS) for uninterrupted listening during movement and a Digital Sound Level (DSL) bass boost function for enhanced audio. 5. Setup

5.1 Powering the Unit

The XP-V5260C can be powered by either batteries or an AC power adapter.

Using Batteries:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the unit.
  2. Insert two (2) AA-size batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: Battery life is approximately 32 hours with standard alkaline batteries. Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period.

Using AC Power Adapter (Optional):

  1. Plug the AC power adapter (not included with all models) into the DC IN 4.5V jack on the unit.
  2. Plug the other end of the adapter into a standard wall outlet.

5.2 Connecting Headphones

Insert the 3.5mm stereo plug of your headphones into the HEADPHONE jack on the side of the unit.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Loading a CD

  1. Gently press the OPEN button or slide the latch to open the CD compartment lid.
  2. Place a CD with the label side facing up onto the center spindle.
  3. Press down gently on the center of the CD until it clicks into place.
  4. Close the CD compartment lid firmly until it latches.

6.2 Basic Playback

6.3 Electronic Anti-Shock System (EASS)

The XP-V5260C features a 48-second EASS to prevent audio interruptions caused by bumps or vibrations. This system stores audio data in a buffer, allowing for continuous playback even if the laser momentarily loses track. The EASS activates automatically during playback.

6.4 Digital Sound Level (DSL) Bass Boost

Press the DSL button to activate or deactivate the bass boost function. When activated, the audio output will have enhanced low-frequency response.

This unit is compatible with both commercially produced audio CDs and user-recorded CD-R/RW discs. Ensure that CD-R/RW discs are finalized after recording for proper playback.

8. Troubleshooting

If you experience problems with your CD player, please refer to the following table for possible solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No power Batteries are dead or inserted incorrectly. AC adapter not connected or faulty. Replace batteries, check polarity. Ensure AC adapter is securely connected to unit and outlet.
CD does not play / "NO DISC" displayed CD inserted incorrectly. CD is dirty or scratched. CD compartment lid not closed. Insert CD with label side up. Clean CD with a soft cloth. Close lid firmly. Try another CD.
Skipping or distorted sound CD is dirty or scratched. Unit is subjected to excessive vibration. Clean CD. Ensure unit is on a stable surface or allow EASS to buffer.
No sound from headphones Headphones not plugged in correctly. Volume too low. Headphones faulty. Ensure headphones are fully inserted. Increase volume. Try different headphones.
