Before You Begin:
- Ensure the water supply to the filter housing is turned off.
- Relieve any pressure in the system by opening a nearby faucet.
- Have a bucket or towel ready to catch any residual water.
Replacing the Cartridge:
- Unscrew the filter housing sump from the filter head.
- Remove the old filter cartridge and dispose of it properly.
- Clean the inside of the filter housing sump with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
- Inspect the O-ring on the filter housing. If it is damaged or worn, replace it. Lubricate the O-ring with a small amount of silicone grease if necessary.
- Insert the new Culligan D-250A-D replacement cartridge into the housing, ensuring it is seated correctly.
- Screw the filter housing sump back onto the filter head. Hand-tighten only; do not overtighten.
- Slowly turn on the water supply to the filter housing.
- Check for leaks around the filter housing. If leaks occur, turn off the water, slightly tighten the housing, and recheck.
- Flush the new filter by running water through it for approximately 5 minutes to remove any carbon fines.
3. Operation
Initial Use:
After installation and flushing, the filter is ready for use. The initial water flow may appear cloudy due to trapped air, which will clear within a few minutes of continuous use.
Normal Operation:
The filter operates continuously as water flows through your system. No user interaction is required during normal operation. Monitor water taste, odor, and flow rate to determine when a replacement is needed.
4. Maintenance and Replacement
Filter Life:
The Culligan D-250A-D filter cartridge has a recommended service life of 500 gallons or 6 months, whichever occurs first. Actual filter life may vary depending on water quality and usage.
Replacing the Filter:
Replace the filter cartridge when you notice a decrease in water flow, a return of unpleasant tastes or odors, or when the recommended filter life has been reached. Refer to the 'Installation Instructions' section for detailed replacement steps.
5. Troubleshooting
Common Issues:
- Reduced Water Flow:
- The filter may be clogged with sediment. Replace the filter cartridge.
- Ensure the water supply valve is fully open.

- Poor Water Taste or Odor:
- The filter has reached the end of its service life. Replace the filter cartridge.
- Ensure the filter was flushed properly after installation.
- Leaks Around Filter Housing:
