Setup Guide

1. Power Connection

  1. Connect the AC power adapter to the DC IN jack on the back of the Luna SST main unit.
  2. Plug the other end of the AC power adapter into a standard wall outlet.
  3. The unit will power on, and the display will illuminate.

2. Detachable Speaker Connection

The Luna SST includes a detachable speaker for enhanced stereo separation. You can choose to keep it attached or place it up to 10 feet away using the longer cable.

  1. Locate the speaker connection port on the back of the main unit and on the detachable speaker.
  2. Select either the 4-inch or 120-inch speaker connection cord based on your desired speaker placement.
  3. Connect one end of the chosen cord to the main unit's speaker output and the other end to the detachable speaker's input.

3. Docking Your Device (iPod/iPhone)

The Luna SST is designed for iPod and iPhone devices. Use the appropriate dock adapter for a secure fit.

  1. Select the correct dock adapter for your specific iPod or iPhone model from the included adapters.
  2. Place the adapter into the docking well on the Luna SST main unit.
  3. Gently place your iPod or iPhone onto the dock connector within the adapter. Ensure it is seated firmly.
  4. The device should begin charging, and the Luna SST will be ready to play audio from your device.

4. Installing Backup Batteries (Optional but Recommended)

A backup battery system ensures your alarm settings and time are maintained during a power outage.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the Luna SST main unit.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 3 AAA batteries (not included) into the compartment, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Operating Instructions

1. Setting the Time

  1. Press and hold the "Time Set" button (refer to your unit's button layout for exact location).
  2. Use the "Hour" and "Minute" buttons to adjust the time.
  3. Press "Time Set" again to confirm.

2. Setting Alarms (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2)

The Luna SST features two independent alarms.

  1. Press and hold the "Alarm 1 Set" or "Alarm 2 Set" button.
  2. Use the "Hour" and "Minute" buttons to set the desired alarm time.
  3. Press the respective "Alarm Set" button again to confirm the time.
  4. Press the "Alarm 1 Mode" or "Alarm 2 Mode" button repeatedly to cycle through wake-up options: iPod/iPhone, FM Radio, or Chime. The selected icon will appear on the display.
  5. To activate or deactivate an alarm, press the "Alarm 1 On/Off" or "Alarm 2 On/Off" button. The alarm indicator will light up when active.

Snooze Function: When an alarm sounds, press the large "Snooze" button on the main unit or the detachable speaker to temporarily silence it. The alarm will sound again after approximately 9 minutes.

Stopping an Alarm: To turn off a sounding alarm completely, press the "Alarm On/Off" button for the active alarm, or the "Power" button.

3. FM Radio Operation

  1. Press the "Source" button until "FM" appears on the display.
  2. Use the "Tune Up" or "Tune Down" buttons to manually adjust the frequency.
  3. Press and hold "Tune Up" or "Tune Down" to automatically scan for the next available station.
  4. To save a preset station, press and hold a "Preset" number button (e.g., P1, P2) until the display flashes. Use the "Tune" buttons to select the desired preset number, then press the "Preset" button again to confirm.
  5. To recall a preset station, simply press the corresponding "Preset" number button.

4. Using the Remote Control

The included wireless remote provides convenient control over various functions from a distance.

  • Power: Turns the unit on/off.
  • Volume +/-: Adjusts the audio volume.
  • Source: Cycles through input sources (iPod/iPhone, FM, Aux).
  • Play/Pause, Skip: Controls playback for docked devices.
  • Alarm Presets: Activates/deactivates alarms.
  • Snooze: Activates snooze when an alarm is sounding.
  • EQ Controls: Adjusts bass and treble levels.

5. XtremeMac Application Integration

For enhanced features and customization, download the free XtremeMac Alarm Clock App from the iTunes App Store. When you dock your device for the first time, you may be prompted to download the app.

  • Set timers.
  • Set nap alarms.
  • Access soothing nature sounds.
  • Further customize alarm functions.

6. Auxiliary Input (Line-In)

Connect other audio devices (e.g., MP3 players, CD players) using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the AUX IN jack on the back of the unit.

  1. Connect one end of the 3.5mm audio cable to your external audio device's headphone or line-out jack.
  2. Connect the other end to the AUX IN jack on the Luna SST.
  3. Press the "Source" button on the Luna SST until "AUX" is selected.
  4. Play audio from your external device.

Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Dust: Regularly dust the unit, especially around the speaker grilles and docking area, to prevent accumulation.
  • Placement: Place the unit on a stable, flat surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.
  • Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
  • Power Cord: Always grasp the plug, not the cord, when disconnecting the power adapter.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Luna SST, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • A message like "this device is not compatible" might appear due to software glitches; re-docking usually resolves this.
Alarm does not sound.
  • Ensure the alarm is activated (alarm indicator lit on display).
  • Verify the alarm time is set correctly.
  • If set to iPod/iPhone, ensure the device is docked and has media available.
  • If set to FM radio, ensure the station is tuned correctly and has signal.
  • Check backup batteries if there was a power interruption.
Remote control not working.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the unit.
  • Check and replace the remote control battery if necessary.
  • Ensure you are within the effective range of the remote.
Time display is inaccurate after power outage.
  • Ensure backup batteries are installed and are fresh.
  • If no backup batteries are installed, the time will need to be reset after a power interruption.
