Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your Monster MP HT 800G Home Theater PowerCenter with Monster GreenPower. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and operation, and retain them for future reference.

Safety Information

• Do not expose the PowerCenter to moisture or extreme temperatures.
• Do not attempt to open or modify the unit. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
• Ensure the total current draw of connected devices does not exceed the PowerCenter's maximum rating.
• Connect the PowerCenter only to a grounded AC outlet.
• Unplug the unit from the wall outlet before cleaning.
• The ceramic-encased MOVs are designed to reduce the risk of fire caused by power surges. If a major surge occurs, the protection may be compromised, and the unit should be inspected or replaced.

Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove the PowerCenter from its packaging. Place the unit on a stable, flat surface near your home theater equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

2. Connecting the PowerCenter

Plug the PowerCenter's power cord directly into a grounded wall outlet. Do not plug the PowerCenter into another extension cord or surge protector.

3. Connecting Your Devices

The PowerCenter features 8 AC outlets. These are typically divided into "Control," "Switched," and "Unswitched" outlets, often indicated by color or labels on the unit.

• Control Outlet: Connect your primary device (e.g., AV receiver, TV) to the designated Control outlet. This device will trigger the GreenPower feature.
• Switched Outlets (GreenPower): Connect secondary devices (e.g., DVD player, game console, subwoofer) to the Switched outlets. These outlets will power on/off automatically with the Control device.
• Unswitched Outlets: Connect devices that require continuous power (e.g., DVR, cable box, modem) to the Unswitched outlets. These outlets remain powered regardless of the Control device's status.

Utilize the 3 wide-spaced outlets for bulky power adapters to prevent blocking adjacent outlets.

4. Connecting Phone Lines

For surge protection of your phone line, connect your incoming phone line to the "IN" port of the PowerCenter's phone protection. Then, connect a phone cable from the "OUT" port to your phone, DVR, satellite receiver, or modem. The built-in splitter allows for multiple connections if needed.

Operating Instructions

GreenPower Functionality

The Monster GreenPower feature automatically turns off power to devices connected to the "Switched" outlets when the device connected to the "Control" outlet is turned off or enters a low-power state. This helps conserve energy and reduce standby power consumption.

• To activate GreenPower, ensure your primary device is connected to the Control outlet and secondary devices to the Switched outlets.
• When the Control device is powered on, the Switched outlets will receive power.
• When the Control device is powered off, the Switched outlets will automatically cut power after a short delay.

Note: Some devices may not be compatible with the GreenPower feature if their standby power draw is too high or too low to be detected by the Control outlet, or if they require a specific power-up sequence. If you experience issues, try connecting the device to an Unswitched outlet or adjusting the sensitivity if your model offers this feature (refer to specific unit labels).

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the PowerCenter, unplug it from the wall outlet. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.

Surge Protection Indicator

The PowerCenter may include an indicator light (often labeled "Protection On" or similar) to show that the surge protection circuitry is active. If this light goes out, it indicates that the surge protection has been compromised, likely due to a significant power surge. In such a case, the unit should be replaced to ensure continued protection for your equipment.

Troubleshooting

• No power to any outlets:
  • Ensure the PowerCenter is securely plugged into a working, grounded wall outlet.
  • Check the circuit breaker in your home's electrical panel.
  • Verify the PowerCenter's master power switch (if present) is in the "ON" position.
• Devices connected to Switched outlets do not turn on/off with Control device:
  • Confirm the Control device is correctly plugged into the designated Control outlet.
  • Ensure the Switched devices are plugged into the correct Switched outlets.
  • The Control device might not draw enough power in its "on" state or draw too much in its "off" state for the GreenPower feature to detect the change. Try a different Control device or use Unswitched outlets for problematic devices.
• Phone line protection not working:
  • Check all phone cable connections to ensure they are secure and correctly routed through the "IN" and "OUT" ports.
• Surge protection indicator light is off:
  • This indicates the surge protection has been consumed. The unit still functions as a power strip but no longer provides surge protection. Replace the unit for continued protection.
