1. Introduction and Overview
The SmartHeart Fingertip Pulse Oximeter is a portable, non-invasive device intended for spot-checking of oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO2) and pulse rate. It is designed for sport and recreational use, such as during exercise or high-altitude activities, and is suitable for seniors, athletes, and adults.
WARNING: Readings may vary on darker skin pigmentations and can make oxygen levels appear higher than they may be. Consult with a physician to ensure the most accurate oxygen measurement.

5. Operating Instructions
- Ensure the oximeter is off before use.
- Open the clamp of the oximeter.
- Insert one of your fingers (preferably the index or middle finger) into the rubber opening of the oximeter, ensuring your finger is fully inserted and resting flat on the sensor.
- Release the clamp. The oximeter will automatically turn on and begin measurement.
- Keep your hand still during the measurement. Readings will appear on the display within a few seconds.
- To turn off the device, simply remove your finger. The oximeter will automatically power off after approximately 8 seconds of inactivity.

6. Understanding Readings
The oximeter display shows two primary readings:
- SpO2 (%): This indicates the percentage of oxygen saturation in your blood. Normal SpO2 values typically range from 95% to 100%.
- PRbpm: This indicates your pulse rate, or heart rate, measured in beats per minute. Normal adult resting heart rates usually fall between 60 and 100 beats per minute.
The device also features an auto-rotating display, which adjusts the screen orientation for easy reading regardless of how the device is held.
7. Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Wipe the surface of the oximeter with a soft cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol or a mild disinfectant. Do not immerse the device in water or any cleaning solution.
- Storage: Store the oximeter in its provided storage case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display after turning on. | Batteries are dead or incorrectly inserted. | Replace batteries or re-insert them with correct polarity. Ensure alkaline batteries are used. |
| Inaccurate or unstable readings. | Finger not properly inserted, movement during measurement, cold extremities, weak pulse, or nail polish/artificial nails. | Re-insert finger correctly, remain still, warm hands if cold, remove nail polish. Consult a physician if readings remain inconsistent or concerning. |
| Device automatically shuts off. | Normal auto-off feature (after 8 seconds of inactivity) or low battery. | This is normal behavior. If it shuts off during measurement, replace batteries. |
