1. Introduction

The Rega Brio Integrated Amplifier is designed to deliver high-fidelity audio performance. It features a robust power supply, quality components, and a dedicated phono stage, making it suitable for a wide range of audio sources, including turntables. 2. Safety Instructions

  • Power Supply: Ensure the amplifier is connected to a power outlet with the correct voltage (115 Volts AC).
  • Ventilation: Do not block ventilation openings. Allow adequate space around the unit for proper airflow to prevent overheating.
  • Moisture: Keep the amplifier away from water or excessive moisture. Do not operate with wet hands.
  • Servicing: Do not attempt to open the amplifier casing. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Risk of electric shock.

4. Front Panel Controls

  • Power Button: Press to turn the amplifier on or off.
  • Headphone Jack: Connect 6.3mm (1/4 inch) headphones for private listening. Connecting headphones will mute the main speaker outputs.
  • Input Indicators (1-5): LEDs illuminate to show the currently selected input source.
  • Volume Knob: Rotate to adjust the output volume level.

5. Rear Panel Connections

The rear panel houses all input and output connections for your audio system.

  • Phono Input (Input 1): Dedicated input for connecting a turntable with a moving magnet (MM) cartridge.
  • Line Inputs (Inputs 2-5): RCA inputs for connecting various audio sources such as CD players, tuners, or streaming devices.
  • Record Output (Output 6): RCA output for connecting to a recording device or an external headphone amplifier. This output provides a fixed-level signal.
  • Speaker Terminals (Left/Right): Connect your passive loudspeakers using appropriate speaker cables. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
  • Power Inlet: Connect the supplied power cable here.
  • Fuse: Contains a user-replaceable fuse for protection. Refer to specifications for correct fuse type.

6. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Rega Brio amplifier:

  1. Placement: Position the amplifier on a flat, stable surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around the unit. Avoid enclosed spaces.
  2. Speaker Connection: Connect your loudspeakers to the 'Speakers' terminals on the rear panel. Ensure the positive (+) terminal on the amplifier connects to the positive (+) terminal on the speaker, and the negative (-) terminal on the amplifier connects to the negative (-) terminal on the speaker.
  3. Source Connection:
    • For a turntable, connect its RCA outputs to the 'Phono' input (Input 1).
    • For other audio sources (CD player, streamer), connect their RCA outputs to any of the 'Line Inputs' (Inputs 2-5).
  4. Remote Control Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the remote control and insert two AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity.
  5. Power Connection: Ensure all audio connections are secure before connecting the power cable to the amplifier's power inlet and then to a wall outlet.

7. Operating Instructions

Once set up, operating the Rega Brio is straightforward:

  1. Power On/Off: Press the power button on the front panel or the remote control to turn the amplifier on. The input indicator for the last selected source will illuminate. Press again to turn off.
  2. Input Selection: Use the input selection buttons on the remote control or cycle through inputs using the front panel control (if available, or typically the power button doubles as input selector on some models, refer to specific model details). The corresponding LED will indicate the active input.
  3. Volume Adjustment: Rotate the volume knob on the front panel clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease. Alternatively, use the volume up/down buttons on the remote control.
  4. Headphone Use: Plug your headphones into the front panel headphone jack. This will automatically mute the main speaker outputs. Unplug headphones to restore speaker output.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the amplifier's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Periodically check that the ventilation slots are clear of dust and obstructions.
  • Connections: Ensure all cables are securely connected. Loose connections can lead to signal loss or interference.

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Rega Brio amplifier, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
