Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your machine.
Daily Cleaning:
- Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray after each use or when full. It is dishwasher-safe.
- Water Tank: Rinse the water tank daily and refill with fresh water. Clean it thoroughly with warm, soapy water weekly.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the machine in water.
Descaling:
Descaling is crucial to remove mineral deposits and maintain machine performance. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage, but typically every 3-6 months.
- Use a descaling solution specifically designed for coffee machines, following the manufacturer's instructions.
- Empty the water tank and fill it with the descaling solution mixed with water as per the descaler's instructions.
- Place a large container under the dispenser.
- Initiate the descaling cycle as per your machine's specific instructions (refer to the full manual if available, or consult the Krups website). This usually involves a specific button combination or menu option.
- After the descaling solution has run through, rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water. Run several full tanks of fresh water through the machine to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
